<p>It seems that <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news"><em>Magic: The Gathering</em></a> previews are starting to finally slow down for <em>Final Fantasy</em>. That means our time recapping those spoilers daily is drawing to a close. However, let's make the very most of it, live for the moment, and look at some spoilers from today, Wednesday, May 28th!</p>
<h2>May 27th Recaps, Today</h2>
<p>But first, let's talk about a few cards that flew under our radar from Tuesday, May 27th. Tuesday was a pretty hefty day for previews; we had an extended weekend in the United States, so there were plenty of previews to catch up on, and it stood to reason that a few would be missed. Not taking the <em>Through the Ages</em> copy of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Stroke of Midnight" href="#" target="_blank">Stroke of Midnight</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> from last Friday into account, there were three previews in the main set that we will now cover. <h2>May 22nd <em>Final Fantasy</em> Previews</h2>
<p>May 22nd's previews were quite cool. We got the rest of the <em>FFXV</em> party, which was consistent on many people's largely varied wish lists, as well as their car, The Regalia. We got a few cool cards with flavor from other games as well, including the World Map from the first <em>Final Fantasy</em> game. World Map looks like it's a better iteration of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wayfarer&#039;s Bauble" href="#" target="_blank">Wayfarer&#039;s Bauble</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and a slightly less wieldy <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Expedition Map" href="#" target="_blank">Expedition Map</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. That is to say, it's a strong staple in decks that lack or want additional ramp.</p>

<p>So, shortly after publishing yesterday's recap article, we immediately caught wind of some other previews that slipped past us. It was only a small handful of cards, but regardless, we will show those right now:</p>

<p>Of note: Lion Heart looks pretty drastically different from how it does in <em>Final Fantasy VIII</em>. This is likely because of the policies Wizards of the Coast has to adhere to when depicting guns and gun-like items (such as Squall's gunblade). The art is still fantastic, make no mistake, but it's also very unlike how we expect Squall's weapon to appear, per se. On to May 21st!</p>
<h2>May 21st Reveals</h2>
<p>Wednesday, May 21st had a fair amount of neat cards for players to spoil themselves with. We got a lot of cards in white and blue, with a small peppering of black and green added as well. In addition, the tentpole uncommon dual land cycle previewed today as well. But enough talk; let's look at the previews!</p>

<h3>Omega, the Heartless (English Name Currently Pending)</h3>
<p>Of note, there was one card spoiled that still doesn't have an English render yet. That card is (tentatively) called Omega, the Heartless. That card's gameplay mechanics are not in question, although the name and any added flavor text are, at current. However, here is what that card does, along with its Japanese render:</p>

<h3>The Town cycle</h3>

<p>This past week was full of previews from <em>Final Fantasy</em>, the newest <em>Universes Beyond</em> set for <em>Magic: The Gathering</em>. Because of the longevity of the beloved <em>Square Enix</em> video game series, the set is extremely expansive. In fact, this set is so comprehensive that its spoiler season will last about three weeks altogether! <p>Our nomination for the coolest new preview from the main set goes to <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Matoya, Archon Elder" href="#" target="_blank">Matoya, Archon Elder</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. While not an Archon <em>nor</em> an Elder in creature type, Matoya is still a very strong Human Warlock. It exceeds the power of cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Eligeth, Crossroads Augur" href="#" target="_blank">Eligeth, Crossroads Augur</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> not by sheer force or effectiveness of ability, but by costing far less mana for an ability that is above rate in comparison. It's quite good in decks that want to scry or surveil to your heart's delight.</p>

<p>Beyond this, there weren't a <em>ton</em> of extremely impactful new cards revealed this past Monday. However, we <em>did</em> get a cool card from <em>Through the</em> Ages.</p>
<h3>Syr Konrad, the Grim as "Golbez, Clad in Darkness"</h3>
<p>According to Scryfall, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Syr Konrad, the Grim" href="#" target="_blank">Syr Konrad, the Grim</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is getting a reskin in <em>Through the Ages</em> as Golbez, the big bad from <em>Final Fantasy IV</em>. While the card's render isn't available in English so far, the stunning art by legendary concept artist <strong>Yoshitaka Amano</strong> is worth mentioning here.</p>

<h2>May 13th <em>Final Fantasy </em>Previews</h2>
<p>The previews from May 12th were fun, but Tuesday, May 13th, is where the previews for the week really started to pick up. The <a href="http://twitch.tv/magic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WeeklyMTG live stream on Twitch</a> showcased quite a few cool things in an "Ultima" theme. This included the 2-player Starter Set for the expansion as well as many, many promo cards. However, one card from that stream stood out above the rest:</p>
<h3>Ultima, Origin of Oblivion</h3>
<p>To round out the awesome theme that the stream showed off, <strong>Blake Rasmussen</strong> and <strong>Gavin Verhey</strong> showed the public <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ultima, Origin of Oblivion" href="#" target="_blank">Ultima, Origin of Oblivion</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>

<p>Ultima is a fantastic colorless creature that likely qualifies as "mass land denial" for those keeping track of the Brackets for their Commander decks. It'll find a home in many decks run by Eldrazi or other colorless commanders. It might even be good enough to take over as the commander of those decks. Time will tell if players will be responsible about using Ultima respectfully at their tables!</p>
<p>Moving on, there was only one <em>Through the Ages</em> reprint for May 13th (not counting promo cards), but it was pretty cool:</p>
<h3>Brainstorm as "Endwalker"</h3>
<p>Endwalker, a reskin of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Brainstorm" href="#" target="_blank">Brainstorm</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, shows a scene of the party from <em>Final Fantasy XIV</em>. Having Brainstorm as a reprint in the bonus sheet of this expansion is honestly really fun. Many players haven't gotten to experience the sheer power of Brainstorm in a Limited environment; now, provided they can afford it, many will!</p>

<h2>May 14th <em>Final Fantasy </em>Previews</h2>
<p>Wednesday, May 14th had even <em>more</em> previews than the previous day. When we say that spoiler season really started ramping up, we aren't kidding. Therefore, it started getting difficult to choose just one great new card and reprint from the day. However, we (probably) nailed it.</p>
<h3>Choco, Seeker of Paradise</h3>
<p>When they revealed <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bartz and Boko" href="#" target="_blank">Bartz and Boko</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> during the debut of preview season, players speculated as to the best possible commander for the duo. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Choco, Seeker of Paradise" href="#" target="_blank">Choco, Seeker of Paradise</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, it seems, is that commander.</p>

<p>This bird synergizes with many of the other Chocobo-themed cards shown so far. It facilitates <em>landfall</em> triggers in an influential way to the game. Plus, it even has a minor payoff for achieving <em>landfall</em>. Not to mention, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Traveling Chocobo" href="#" target="_blank">Traveling Chocobo</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> elevates Choco to an absurd degree. Hands down, Choco is the Bird commander that people wanted in <em>Final Fantasy</em>.</p>
<h3>Yawgmoth, Thran Physician as "The Emperor, Hell Tyrant"</h3>
<p>The Emperor is one of the scariest antagonists in <em>Final Fantasy</em>, originally from <em>FFII</em>. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Yawgmoth, Thran Physician" href="#" target="_blank">Yawgmoth, Thran Physician</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is one of the scariest (if not <em>the</em> scariest) big-bads of <em>Magic</em>. Therefore, this merging of properties makes a ton of sense for the <em>Through the Ages</em> sheet. Behold!</p>

<h2>May 15th <em>Final Fantasy </em>Previews</h2>
<p>On Thursday, May 15th, we got fewer big-deal previews from within the set proper, but we got a bunch of cool <em>Through the Ages</em> reveals. While there's much potential for debate over the coolest <em>TTA</em> card from May 15th, there is no contest about that within the new cards from the <em>Final Fantasy</em> set at large:</p>
<h3>Triple Triad</h3>
<p>According to <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/author/morgan-sanchez" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Morgan Sanchez</strong></a>, our Content Operations Manager here at EDHREC, "[They] put a card game into your card game so you can card game while you card game." Truer words could not have been spoken, Chief. Here's <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Triple Triad" href="#" target="_blank">Triple Triad</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, revealed by <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/amazonian" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amazonian</a>:</p>

<p>Thinking more about this riff on <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sunbird&#039;s Invocation" href="#" target="_blank">Sunbird&#039;s Invocation</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, it feels somehow sacred to have the layers that Triple Triad does, in a flavor sense. In the <em>Final Fantasy</em> video game series, Triple Triad is a collectible card game minigame. This card is now in a set based on that video game. And to make matters even more funny, it causes a really cool minigame-style scenario! The layers are <em>deep</em>, dear reader!</p>
<h3>Rhystic Study as "Stay with Me"</h3>
<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Rhystic Study" href="#" target="_blank">Rhystic Study</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is a card that basically <em>always</em> needs a reprint from a standpoint of card accessibility. However, for reasons of Constructed destabilization, it's remarkably difficult to insert into a set. Fortunately, <em>Final Fantasy</em> has a great bonus sheet opportunity with <em>Through the Ages</em>.</p>

<p>Rhystic Study is as oppressive as ever, but its inclusion on the <a href="https://edhrec.com/top/game-changers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Game Changer</a> list may cause it to see a bit less play. However, with more players opening the card than they have been previously, some players might want to use their shiny new card. Time will tell!</p>
<h2>May 16th <em>Final Fantasy </em>Previews</h2>
<p>That brings us to Friday, May 16th. While the day isn't quite over yet, the cards previewed so far are plentiful. We have seen a fair few cards from the set proper and even more <em>Through the Ages</em> cards. These are the two cards that might be the coolest spoilers for the day.</p>
<h3>Summon: Knights of Round</h3>
<p>Many players across social media had highly anticipated Summon: Knights of Round. While it's slow for a creature card, as a Saga card, it's quite competent. This is especially true in formats like Commander where Sagas have more value to them due to increased synergies.</p>

<p>Also, that last ability is <em>extremely</em> powerful. It could even lead to the end of games with a big enough board state!</p>
<h3>Tymna the Weaver as "Cecil Harvey"</h3>
<p>The last <em>Through the Ages</em> card we will go over in this recap is <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Tymna the Weaver" href="#" target="_blank">Tymna the Weaver</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, here reskinned in <em>Final Fantasy IV</em> regalia as Cecil Harvey. Tymna is a fantastic and potent cEDH commander due to its colors, its Partner ability, and the way it accrues card advantage.</p>

<p>The tweet mentions that the Borderless Character art can only be found in Collector Boosters, many of which are already commanding prices above $100 a pack or $600+ a box on retail sites. This is no surprise, as <em>Final Fantasy</em> is already the best selling MTG set of all time, just a little over a month before its official release date.</p>

<p>Isn't. It. Beautiful? It brings a tear to my eye. Not since <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cruel Entertainment" href="#" target="_blank">Cruel Entertainment</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> has <em>Wizards</em> shown such love to us followers of chaos! The card itself is simple, but the nonsense it creates is hilarious. If I didn't know better, I'd have expected a card like this to appear in <em>Unstable</em>!The only black-bordered comparison we have is from one of the <em><a href="https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=226556">Planechase</a> </em>products! Plus, that flavor text is just plain phenomenal.</p>
<p>For those who don't know, I write the <em>Bringing Magic to Life </em>series here on EDHREC, where I craft 3D prints of my favorite commanders and their trinkets, from Omnath tokens to Kozilek figurines. I also have what some call an unhealthy obsession with chaos cards. This preview card fuses both passions together! Today we'll craft a deck that will turn our new card into a total nightmare for our enemies, and stay tuned at the end of the article for some 3D-printed crafts of the card itself!</p>

<p>Now sadly, there are two small drawbacks to this new card. First, it has the audacity to come into play tapped. What if someone blows it up before I have a chance to radically change the game as we know it? The second issue is that it exiles itself upon use. Now I know you're asking, "But how am I going to mess with my opponents over and over again to appease the chaos overlords when this card exiles itself?" Don't worry, Kya is here to provide solutions!</p>

<p>That's right, it's Rude-iclad! I mean, Brudiclad! The prince who was promised! We're going to use him to create an unstoppable army of tokens, and we're going to use those tokens to create something truly magical: mayhem.</p>
<p>At the start of combat, Brudiclad creates a creature token, then turns all of your tokens into a copy of any token you control. Importantly, this effect does not last until end of turn - they stay that way indefinitely. You can turn all your Myr tokens into Thopters, or your Servos into Treasure! And if we manage to make a copy of our new Aeon Engine, we can make a whole boatload of Engines, allowing us to mess with the game however we please!</p>
<p>How do we accomplish this? Easy:</p>

<p>There are tons of ways to make copies of artifacts, from <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Prototype Portal" href="#" target="_blank">Prototype Portal</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> to <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Saheeli&#039;s Artistry" href="#" target="_blank">Saheeli&#039;s Artistry</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. All we need to do is assemble a bunch of tiny tokens with Brudiclad staples like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Whirler Rogue" href="#" target="_blank">Whirler Rogue</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Spell Swindle" href="#" target="_blank">Spell Swindle</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krenko, Mob Boss" href="#" target="_blank">Krenko, Mob Boss</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, then stick the Engine and make a single copy of it. After that, Brudiclad will transform our tiny tokens into a turn-twisting masterpiece. Best of all, those tokens are already in play, so unlike the original Engine, which enters tapped, all the copies will already be untapped!</p>
<p>And because I cannot resist the temptation to add in even more chaos, I hope you won't mind if a few other cards join the fray:</p>

<p>I just can't help myself. This is the deck's ultimate goal: to wrest control of the game away from our opponents entirely by creating a nightmare of turn orders that make the chaos gods themselves giddy with delight. Extra <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mindslaver" href="#" target="_blank">Mindslaver</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>s means that you get all the turns! Multiple <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Timesifter" href="#" target="_blank">Timesifter</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>s will each store up extra turns, so even if one is destroyed, the others have been charging their batteries. Even if they knock you out of the game, you'll have created a massive ripple effect that will forever impact the game. Do you know what happens if you have multiple <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Timesifters" href="#" target="_blank">Timesifters</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> in and a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Stranglehold" href="#" target="_blank">Stranglehold</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> in play? If you play this deck correctly, you'll find out! Mwahaha!</p>
<p>For kicks, I've also included extra effects like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Omen Machine" href="#" target="_blank">Omen Machine</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Gate to the Aether" href="#" target="_blank">Gate to the Aether</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, which also produce a crazy effect on the game when you're able to make a bunch of copies of them. Does your friend think they're a <em>Storm </em>player? They haven't seen a true storm until they've seen this deck!</p>

<h2>Let's Get Crafty!</h2>
<p>No matter what pod you jump into with this deck, keeping up with all of your triggers is going to be a nightmare for everyone at the table, yourself included. Especially with our new spoiler card, how are you going to know which way the turns are going after the 16th time Aeon Engine went off? Kya is here to help!</p>

<p>We're going to create our own replica of Aeon Engine! This way we have a cool, stabby-looking prop to help our pod shine a light through the chaotic abyss. I absolutely loved the art on this card, although seeing the details of the artifact was very difficult. I really hope I got the general shape right!</p>
<p>Focusing on just the artifact, it looks like a strange-looking clock sitting on top of a goblet with a hole through it, where it shoots energy through the artifact to create a time portal! If I have any regret about this 3D printing, it's that I can't actually shoot lasers out of it.</p>

<p>Now comes the 3D printing of our new chaotic artifact! True story, this artifact was so destabilizing to the aether that it destroyed my 3D printer. Parts of it, anyway: I had to order new components to get this little project completed! This should be a lesson to all those new to dabbling in chaos: safety last... I mean first! Sorry, the backwards turns have me all mixed up.</p>
<p>The device is printed in three parts, though for future iterations it can probably be split into just two. Regardless, we now have a new 3D print that we can aim in the direction of turn orders as they're changed. Bonus points if you add a bubble blower to the goblet portion so it matches the art!</p>

<h2>Arcane Printings</h2>
<p>It'd be a little selfish if I limited our 3D models to just our preview card, so let's add in one more 3D print in this article. I'm sure everyone has been freaking out about the new <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Arcane Signet" href="#" target="_blank">Arcane Signet</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> that was revealed a while back. Truly not since <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sol Ring" href="#" target="_blank">Sol Ring</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> does a card belong in nearly every deck! I couldn't resist adding this trinket to our collection as well.</p>

<p>Let's keep it simple, shall we? I created shapes for the larger indents around the rims and added the flat surface in the upper-middle section. <span class="c-message__body" dir="auto" data-qa="message-text">As for the arcane effects you see in the art, we can just paint the glowing effects of the talisman's magic once we print it out</span>. I rarely get a chance to paint my prints beyond just a general coat, so I'm a little excited!</p>
