<p>Over the past few play seasons, <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> has offered players some really cool promotional cards. With the <em>Edge of Eternities</em> play season just past the horizon, Wizards of the Coast has continued this trend! On Wednesday, July 9th, Wizards revealed the play season promos for this new set. Let's take a look!</p>
<h2><em>Edge of Eternities</em> Commander Box League</h2>
<p>First off, Wizards is pushing their Commander Box League concept towards players. The promo for participating in this league event is a retro-frame, traditional foil copy of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Palladium Myr" href="#" target="_blank">Palladium Myr</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> (image credit: Wizards of the Coast).</p>

<h2><em>Magic</em> Academy</h2>
<p>Players who buy an introductory <em>Magic</em> product between August 1st and September 18th will receive a promotional card for their foray into the game (while supplies last). <p>According to Wizards, "Intro products include Starter Kits, the <i>Magic: The Gathering Foundations </i>Beginner Box or Starter Collection, and six or more Play Boosters from a set. That last one includes Bundles and Play Booster boxes." Furthermore, new players can also receive a sticker sheet themed after <em>Edge of Eternities</em> to give their deck boxes some added style points.</p>
<h2>Standard Showdown</h2>
<p>For the Standard Showdown event, players will receive a retro-frame, traditional foil copy of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Monstrous Rage" href="#" target="_blank">Monstrous Rage</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. Recently, <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/ban-list-update-for-june-30th-2025-shakes-up-standard">Monstrous Rage caught the banhammer</a> in Standard. However, Wizards of the Coast has addressed the untimely nature of this promo by mentioning that it's still a usable card in Pioneer.</p>

Edge of Eternities Play Season Promos Officially Revealed

<p>On Tuesday, June 3rd, Magic.gg, the competitive news hub for <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> events, released a bunch of dates for their upcoming events. These events include regional championship qualifiers (RCQs), Eternal Weekend, and their Spotlight Series. In the context of high-level events, <em>Magic</em> tournaments tend to offer promotional cards to either participating players or those who finish well. The events they're teasing here are no exception! Below are the promo cards and dates for events that <em>Magic</em> is hosting soon.</p>
<h2>RCQ Promos</h2>
<p>First, let's look at the RCQ promotional cards. According to the article on Magic.gg:</p>
<blockquote><p>The third round of 2025–26's RCQs will begin on August 2, 2025, and will run until November 9, 2025. All WPN stores, as well as destination event organizers, will be running RCQs that feed into the round of Regional Championships that runs from January 24, 2026, to March 22, 2026.</p>
<p>RCQs run during this round can be scheduled by participating WPN stores as Standard Constructed or Limited. Larger events that are designated as "destination" qualifiers—events run in larger venues such as hotel ballrooms or convention centers—may be run as other Constructed formats. Please check with your local organizer for all specific info on qualifiers closest to you.</p></blockquote>

<p>Running from June 20th through June 22nd, MagicCon Las Vegas is just around the corner! While badges are currently on sale, some people understandably can't make it to Nevada for a <em>Magic: The Gathering</em> convention. What's a <em>Magic</em> player to do? Well, tomorrow, you can fret much less about fear of missing out on the convention! MagicCon Las Vegas's <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/festival-in-a-box">Festival In A Box</a> goes on sale on Monday, May 19th at 9 AM Pacific Time (or Noon Eastern Time).</p>
<p>But what does this event's Festival In A Box contain? Read on, and we'll outline it for you.</p>
<h2>Festival In A Box Contents</h2>
<p>The Festival In A Box for MagicCon Las Vegas has a few really cool things going for it. There's a <em>Mystery Booster 2</em> booster box, exclusive promotional cards, and even a super-exclusive <em>Secret Lair</em> drop! Let's dive into the particulars:</p>
<h3><em>Mystery Booster 2</em></h3>
<p>To start, the Festival In A Box package contains <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">an <em>MB2</em> box</span>. This set is a conglomerate of practically all sets up to a certain point, with some of the wildest cards from each within its bounds. Beyond this, each pack has card slots for "Futureshifted" cards (AKA cards with the special frame from <em>Future Sight</em>), white bordered reprints, and even a playtest card! There's even a slim (yet still nonzero) chance that you could find foil cards that, financially, could make up a large chunk of the cost of the package.</p>
<p>Truly, <em>Mystery Booster 2</em> is a unique Limited experience, to say nothing of how awesome many of the reprints in the set are. <p>For all it's worth, it's pleasant to see that there are now artist credits on the printed playtest cards. <strong>Mark Rosewater</strong> has still got his artistic chops!</p>
<h2>Festival In A Box Details</h2>
<p>Last year's Festival In A Box for MagicCon Las Vegas was priced at $249.99. However, prices have since shifted for previous events, and this one may cost closer to $200 based on content and precedent. The verdict is currently out, so it could honestly go either way. You'll be able to order the Festival In A Box on May 19th at 9 AM Pacific Time, or Noon Eastern Time. The sale will go up on the official <a href="https://secretlair.wizards.com/"><em>Secret Lair</em></a> website.</p>
