<p><em>Magic</em>'s<em><a href="https://edhrec.com/sets/tla"> Avatar: The Last Airbender</a></em> set may be a few months away, but we've already gotten a glimpse of several powerful commanders it'll bring into the format. One such legend is none other than everyone's favorite honor-driven prince, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Zuko, Avatar Hunter" href="#" target="_blank">Zuko, Avatar Hunter</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. This card perfectly captures his character in the early episodes of the series as he sets out with a ship full of Fire Nation soldiers, dead set on finding the Avatar.</p>
<h2>Hey, Zuko Here</h2>

<p>Hailing from the set's <a href="https://edhrec.com/sets/tle"><em>Jumpstart</em> product</a>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Zuko, Avatar Hunter" href="#" target="_blank">Zuko, Avatar Hunter</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> can be your own personal army in a can. When I read that he creates a creature token whenever you cast a red spell, the main goal of the deck started to become clear: set yourself up for one big turn. If you're able lay low in the early game and then simply deploy a few payoffs before casting your commander, it can make for a mid to late game for the ages.</p>
<p>So, as we look through this deck, you'll notice there's a few ways to obtain incremental advantage in your set up phase, which will lead to big bursts of value when you're ready to go off. I highly recommend playtesting the deck on Archidekt once you're finished with this article to get a true sense of how powerful this strategy can be.</p>
<p>Speaking of power, there's something we need to get out of the way first and foremost...</p>
<h2>The Infinite Combo</h2>

<p>Even though this deck is budget-friendly, that doesn't mean it can't contain a <em>nasty</em> two-card combo. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Grinning Ignus" href="#" target="_blank">Grinning Ignus</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Runaway Steam-Kin" href="#" target="_blank">Runaway Steam-Kin</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> interact with each other in a very interesting way. Below is a brief overview of the combo, but you can read more about it <a href="https://edhrec.com/combos/mono-red/411-3101">here on EDHREC.</a></p>

<p>As you can see, this interaction will give you infinite Soldier tokens if <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Zuko, Avatar Hunter" href="#" target="_blank">Zuko, Avatar Hunter</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is on the board. That would squarely put this deck in Bracket (3) Upgraded, since those lists can contain late game two-card infinite combos. However, be sure to bring it up in your pregame discussion so your opponents aren't caught off guard.</p>
<p>This list already runs several cards that would close out the game right away if all the pieces are in place. When this combo is paired with effects that burn the table when creatures enter, you can reduce your opponents' life totals to zero on the spot. Also, if you have any haste-enablers, you can take everyone out with one big attack. Let's take a look at some of those spells now.</p>
<h2>Burn Triggers</h2>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Weftstalker Ardent" href="#" target="_blank">Weftstalker Ardent</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: new from <em><a href="https://edhrec.com/sets/eoe">Edge of Eternities</a></em>, this creature can spend turn after turn pinging your opponents if you cast it for its regular cost, or you can warp it in for a single turn when you need that burn damage the most.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Molten Gatekeeper" href="#" target="_blank">Molten Gatekeeper</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: here's another useful way to lower your foes' life totals, all while having that unearth option to temporarily get it back on the turn you're ready to close out the game.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Haste-Enablers</h2>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mass Hysteria" href="#" target="_blank">Mass Hysteria</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: a simple and cheap way to add haste to your board, but it comes with a price: the entire table also gets that effect, so be sure to only cast this when you're ready to pop off with your deck.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Roar of Resistance" href="#" target="_blank">Roar of Resistance</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: even though this enchantment only gives haste to your tokens, that'll usually be the way you close out games with this list. Plus, it also offers some tricky combat politics with that pump effect, which can even benefit your opponents' creatures if they attack someone else.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bitter Reunion" href="#" target="_blank">Bitter Reunion</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: this spell works great in the deck by giving you card selection in the early game and then granting haste to your whole board for only one mana in the late game.</li>
</ul>
<h2>What Makes up the Deck</h2>
<p>Now it's time to focus on the rest of the deck and what makes up the 99. As stated before, the gameplan is to build up a big board of value pieces and then capitalize on it by chaining spells together once your commander is out.</p>
<h2>Mana Advantage</h2>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sunset Strikemaster" href="#" target="_blank">Sunset Strikemaster</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: this creature fills two whole roles in this deck, providing ramp and even removal all on its own.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Zookeeper Mechan" href="#" target="_blank">Zookeeper Mechan</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: here's a brand-new mana dork that's a great blocker when you need it and even gives you a way to pump a creature if you really need it... I mean really, really need it, because that ability costs a lot to activate.</li>
</ul>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mana Geyser" href="#" target="_blank">Mana Geyser</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: when it comes time to close out the game, this spell will be your best friend. The sheer amount of mana this offers will give you all the fuel you need to chain your red spells together.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Glittering Stockpile" href="#" target="_blank">Glittering Stockpile</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: this mana rock helps you cast spells as the game goes on, all while growing counters that can be cashed in for a burst of mana during the late game.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Battle Hymn" href="#" target="_blank">Battle Hymn</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: if the deck is building out a big board, like I know it can, this spell could offer you a huge chunk of mana to keep your engine rolling when you need it the most.</li>

<h2>Card Advantage</h2>

On the turn you pop off, this gives you everything you need.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Snort" href="#" target="_blank">Snort</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: something I consistently noticed while playtesting this deck is that after your deck pops off, you can sometimes be stuck with only a few cards in hand. This wheel effect will help ensure you don't get caught defenseless after a win attempt goes awry.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Subira, Tulzidi Caravanner" href="#" target="_blank">Subira, Tulzidi Caravanner</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: not only does this legend offer evasion to your tokens, it also can make for a huge hand refill when all of them swing into your opponents.</li>
</ul>

The Dark-Dweller is a great way to ensure you don't get stuck without action for your gameplan.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Brazen Cannonade" href="#" target="_blank">Brazen Cannonade</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: since this deck is designed to be pretty aggressive, you're bound to have a lot of big combat steps during your turn. Not only does this make your opponents have tricky blocks, but it also gives you access to an additional card each turn.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ecstatic Beauty" href="#" target="_blank">Ecstatic Beauty</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: three mana for the ability to play three new cards is a solid rate. However, in this deck, you can suspend this spell for only one mana and time it out to resolve on the turn you're ready to go off with your commander.</li>

<h2>Bursts of Spells</h2>

It offers you three spells in one, which means you'll also create three Soldiers with Zuko.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mizzix&#039;s Mastery" href="#" target="_blank">Mizzix&#039;s Mastery</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: if you cast this sorcery for its normal cost, you'll still get two casts for the price of one. However, if you overload it, that could make for a pretty impactful game-ender.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ignite the Future" href="#" target="_blank">Ignite the Future</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: here's another way to get access to a few cards for a limited amount of time while also having a mode that casts those spells for free if you flash this back.</li>

<h2>Tricky Includes</h2>

<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Tarnation Vista" href="#" target="_blank">Tarnation Vista</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: this land is incredible in the list and should be in a lot more mono-colored decks out there. Once you've assembled an army of creatures, it could generate you a huge burst of mana.</li>
<li><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Crown of Flames" href="#" target="_blank">Crown of Flames</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>: while this doesn't go infinite, it can go <em>a lot</em>. For two mana in total, you can cast it and bounce it back to your hand. Repeat that process as many times as you want, and you'll get a Soldier each time.</li>

<h2>In Closing</h2>
<p>As you might have gathered from reading my article last week for <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/the-cabbage-merchant-budget-commander-deck-tech">The Cabbage Merchant</a>, <em>Avatar</em> means a lot to me, and Zuko happens to be my all-time favorite character in the series. I wanted to do him justice with this deck and capture the reckless and bullish nature he had at the start of the show.</p>
<p>At this point in the series, Zuko was so loyal to the Fire Nation that he was willing to burn down cities for a family that sent him into exile and spend his whole life searching for something that could never be found.</p>

I know that this is a trying time for <em>Magic: the Gathering</em> players, as we seem to be going from set release to preview season to set release to preview season, but fear not! We will prevail and our favorite decks will, inevitably, be all the stronger for it. My name is Seth Cross and welcome back to <em>Uncommonders</em>, the series that explores underappreciated commanders printed at the uncommon level. There don't seem to be any new uncommon legends in the new <em>Core 2020</em> set, but fear not! <em>Dominaria </em>is still full of amazing legends to explore. This week we are talking about…</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Danitha Capashen, Paragon</h2>

<p>It is rare that I say this about a mono-white commander (or a mono white-card in general) but Danitha is actually a pretty good creature: three mana for a 2/2 body with some very relevant keywords, and a unique ability to discount spells that are very prominent in her color. In all, you get a solid option for the command zone.</p>
<p>I realize that her ability mentions both Auras and Equipment, but we did just look at <a href="https://articles.edhrec.com/uncommonder-tiana-boros-enchantress/">Boros Auras</a> recently, so I thought for this commander we would focus on the Equipment cards. At first, I just assumed I would make a generic goodstuff white Equipment deck, but then I was struck by an idea, inspired by a couple of cards in the recent set, <em>Modern Horizons,</em> and Danitha’s creature type: she is a Knight!</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Danitha and the Knights of the Round Table!</h3>

<p>If your first thought just now was "Oh, just another Knight tribal deck," well, you are partially correct, but there's more to this idea than just the tribal element. After all, what is a Knight without their sword? And it just so happens that we got two more members of the "Sword of X and Y" cycle in <em>Modern Horizons.</em> <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sword of Sinew and Steel" href="#" target="_blank">Sword of Sinew and Steel</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sword of Truth and Justice" href="#" target="_blank">Sword of Truth and Justice</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> joined the cycle and, for the most part, I am happy with both.</p>
<p>I know some people have expressed concern that these newer Swords are less powerful than the OG cycle, but I personally think these utility abilities are still very good and the colors they protect from (black and red for one, white and blue for the other) are pretty relevant combinations in Commander, from my own personal experience. Like I said, there is a Knight-based theme as well, as I chose six specific Knights to accompany Danitha into the battlefield.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Who’s Sitting at the Table?</h3>

<p>I was surprised when I searched for mono-white Knights on <a href="https://www.scryfall.com">Scryfall</a> and found out there were 147 total; there were even a few “lord” abilities to tie the tribe together! I chose the lucky six based on a few different variables, from my personal preference to simple utility. For example, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Balan, Wandering Knight" href="#" target="_blank">Balan, Wandering Knight</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> was not in the top seven of white Knights, but since we are dealing with Equipment, I think she is a solid choice. Meanwhile, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Knight of the White Orchid" href="#" target="_blank">Knight of the White Orchid</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> was the top-rated Knight on Scryfall and was chosen because he does something mono-white normally struggles with: ramping a land if we're behind.</p>
<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Puresteel Paladin" href="#" target="_blank">Puresteel Paladin</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> works well with our Equipment deck by making it free to move the Swords into the hands of our heroes, while <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Thalia’s Lancers" href="#" target="_blank">Thalia’s Lancers</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> can tutor up some of our other Knights and other important cards. I chose <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mirran Crusader" href="#" target="_blank">Mirran Crusader</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> for the low cost and double protection because if we have a sword that grants protection from white, blue and/or red, we are making Crusader nigh impossible to block. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Knight Exemplar" href="#" target="_blank">Knight Exemplar</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is one of the lords that I think the deck will benefit the most from, making our Knights indestructible and slightly stronger.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Knights Need a Kingdom</h2>
<p style="text-align: center;"><div class="edhrecp__cards"><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Quest for the Holy Relic"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Throne of the High City"></div><div class="edhrecp__card-container" name="Stoneforge Mystic"></div></div></p>
<p>Of course, fourteen cards do not a deck make, especially when the concept of a tribal deck is based on just seven of those cards. Since the theme of the deck prevented me from simply piling in more value Knights or type-based lords, I decided to go for the theme of “Camelot”-based effects. With Danitha as our head Knight and presumably our Queen, she needed a throne and I found one that gave me access to my favorite mechanic in Commander: the Monarch. Danitha, sit high atop your <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Throne of the High City" href="#" target="_blank">Throne of the High City</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>
<p>Danitha’s personal squire, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bastion Protector" href="#" target="_blank">Bastion Protector</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> will keep her safe, while <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Selfless Squire" href="#" target="_blank">Selfless Squire</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is looking to earn their knighthood by protecting us. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Elspeth, Sun’s Champion" href="#" target="_blank">Elspeth, Sun’s Champion</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is a mini army and board wipe effect that keeps some of our faithful Knights on the field (or all of them if <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Knight Exemplar" href="#" target="_blank">Knight Exemplar</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is on the battlefield). Any of these squires may need a sword of their own, so <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sword of the Animist" href="#" target="_blank">Sword of the Animist</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> makes it into the armory. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dawn of Hope" href="#" target="_blank">Dawn of Hope</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> can let us sink our mana into making more Soldiers while also synergizing with Danitha, who has lifelink naturally. While we're on the subject of gaining life, do not forget that two of our Swords of X and Y Equipment also have lifegain baked in!</p>

<p>In the lore, Danitha does not seem the type to be looking for a husband, but for the sake of theme and synergy, I like the idea of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Darien, King of Kjeldor" href="#" target="_blank">Darien, King of Kjeldor</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> being the “stay at the castle and recruit an army” type of king. Since we are talking about a Camelot-based theme, there was no way I would miss the opportunity to run <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Quest for the Holy Relic" href="#" target="_blank">Quest for the Holy Relic</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>
<p>Of course, every kingdom needs to collect money to fund roads, the army, and everything else, so <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Land Tax" href="#" target="_blank">Land Tax</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Smothering Tithe" href="#" target="_blank">Smothering Tithe</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> seemed like natural inclusions. Since the deck is based around creatures, I only ran a few Wrath effects, and I wanted to make them work mostly in our favor. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Austere Command" href="#" target="_blank">Austere Command</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mass Calcify" href="#" target="_blank">Mass Calcify</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> have the potential to leave us untouched, while I thought of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Teferi’s Protection" href="#" target="_blank">Teferi’s Protection</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> as Merlin’s spell of protection over Camelot, keeping it safe from enemy nations. Lastly, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Stonehewer Giant" href="#" target="_blank">Stonehewer Giant</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Stoneforge Mystic" href="#" target="_blank">Stoneforge Mystic</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> are the blacksmiths of our legendary swords while I chose <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Baird, Steward of Argive" href="#" target="_blank">Baird, Steward of Argive</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> as the captain of the guard for our kingdom.</p>
<p>We need some more removal, as much draw as we can manage and some more ramp, but overall this is what the decklist looks like:</p>

<p>Normally, when I sit down to write an article, even if I have the idea already in mind, it can take me a couple of days to research cards and synergies to try to present at least a mid-level deck. I have noticed, however, that when I do these kinds of thematic builds, I tend to almost fall into the decklist. Before I know it, the list is complete, and the article is over, and here we are! I really do think that these kinds of flavorful decks are the most fun for me to brew, and I hope you enjoy them, too!</p>
<p>The last Uncommonders article about <a href="https://articles.edhrec.com/uncommonders-sneaking-on-the-high-seas/">Pirates and Ninjas</a> had a comment that stuck out, and per tradition, I'd love to shout it out. <p>I have to confess, I have done some odd tribal decks in the past. As a matter of fact, the first episode of the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/praetormagic">Praetor Magic YouTube</a> series “Magic Online Commander League” was “<a href="https://youtu.be/Xe_WYe4mVog">tribal jank</a>” where I played Selesnya Knights, helmed by <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa" href="#" target="_blank">Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, while another player at the table ran Selesnya Archers, helmed by <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Karametra, God of Harvests" href="#" target="_blank">Karametra, God of Harvests</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. It was honestly one of the worst performances I have had on the channel, but it was a fun time brewing the deck - tribes are just so nuanced and cool.</p>

<p>Welcome once again, party people! Thanks for coming back to our (usually) bi-weekly article series that crosses the streams of 60-card formats and our 100-card singleton format. This week is something near and dear to my heart. It's doubly special because... well, it's all about doubling things! Tokens, specifically. Do you folks know what makes my heart happier than a good old-fashioned token deck? If you guessed a pint of Ben &amp; Jerry's Milk n' Cookies ice cream, you would be correct, so a point for you. However, if we're limiting the answer to<em> Magic</em>-related items, the correct answer is, of course, a green-white aggro deck!</p>

<p>The Standard format right now is absolutely awesome, folks. The first month or two of a freshly rotated format means that everyone is brewing and basically playing stacks and stacks of fun and powerful cards. There isn't a known "best deck" yet, because we don't know what's good. Boros has made an impressive recent debut, and there are also some black-green decks prowling around, but if you wanted to read the Golgari Glen Ross Files, I'll just pass you on to <a href="https://articles.edhrec.com/author/joseph-schultz/">Joey "As a Necromancer Myself" Schultz</a> or any of the other great writers we have. You knew what you were signing up for when you clicked on this link, it's ALLLLLL about the Selesnya today! It's the best color combination in <em>Magic</em>, and there's nothing it can't do except for 'be boring.'</p>
<p>Speaking of not boring, here is this week's source of inspiration, courtesy of a recent Grand Prix that had a pretty <a href="https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=20388&amp;d=333475&amp;f=ST">diverse and interesting Top 8</a> for itself. <p>I miss the days when you could play 21 lands in a Standard aggro deck and be okay. Yet here we are, Selesnya being the best, as usual. (I'm not biased, you're biased.) The <em>Convoke</em> mechanic continues to be just nutty great in Standard just as it's been a powerful mechanic in Commander. I think the most fun part about the deck is the snowballing effect it creates when it gets moving.</p>
<p>Some of the best cards in the deck just so happen to be my favorites from <em>Guilds of Ravnica</em> as well. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara, Soul of the Accord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> you say? Sign me up! <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Conclave Tribunal" href="#" target="_blank">Conclave Tribunal</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> even is making waves in this new Standard world! The question is not, "How are we going to make this work for Commander?" but rather, "How awesome is this going to be?" Obviously, the answer is "very."</p>

<h2>Invoking Convoke</h2>
<p>Like I said, <em>Convoke</em> is a great and powerful mechanic, very fitting for great and powerful wizards. Not the Oz kind, but those Of The Coast. Turning every creature into mana dorks a la <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cryptolith Rite" href="#" target="_blank">Cryptolith Rite</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> translates into more powerful things than you normally should be able to do. You end up way ahead of the normal mana curve, and get to use more mana per turn than your opponents. Commander is all about resource accumulation, so making your creatures effectively count as double resources means you're getting some great value.</p>

<p>As soon as I first saw <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara, Soul of the Accord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> I fell in love. <em>Convoke</em> already gives you plenty of value so her ability to make tokens just for going about your gameplan excites me. I believe I even said on a recent episode of the EDHRECast that Emmara's rec page is going to look how <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist" href="#" target="_blank">Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>'s page SHOULD look. Lots of "tap a creature you control," effects, as many <em>Convoke</em> spells as you can fit, and ways to supplement a go-wide approach. Normally I go to the EDHREC page for a card we're going to build around, but this is extra fun since the build-around card is already eligible to be our commander.</p>

<h2>How Wide Can You Go?</h2>
<p>Another not-so-bold statement I made on an episode of the <a href="https://edhrecast.libsyn.com/">EDHRECast</a> was that <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara, Soul of the Accord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> would be a great budget substitute for another powerful Selesnya token-based commander, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Rhys the Redeemed" href="#" target="_blank">Rhys the Redeemed</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. Rhys is fantastic at what he does, making an army of tokens in rapid succession. The only problem is, at nearly $30 on most websites, it's hard to suggest him as a commander. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara, Soul of the Accord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, on the other hand, is a cool dollar, if that. The way they make their army is very different, but there are still some principles we can take from a Rhys token deck.</p>
<p>Naturally, if you want to make an army of token types, you want to maximize whatever tokens you're putting out. If you happen to have a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Doubling Season" href="#" target="_blank">Doubling Season</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> laying around, there are few places better places to run it than here. Same goes for the cheaper options in <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Parallel Lives" href="#" target="_blank">Parallel Lives</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Anointed Procession" href="#" target="_blank">Anointed Procession</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, all of which make your X-token spells produce XX worth of creatures instead, which goes a long way toward keeping up with the broken decks that guy Chad always sits down with. Combine these token doublers with, say, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="March of the Multitudes" href="#" target="_blank">March of the Multitudes</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and you have an army worthy of making Chad go sit in the corner for a few games.</p>

<h2>A Tap Dance</h2>
<p>While it's great going Wang Chung on the token theme, there do need to be some ways to actually tap Emmara in order to get her ability going outside of our somewhat limited array of <em>Convoke</em> spells that are actually worth running. The influences from one of my favorite all-time decks <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist" href="#" target="_blank">Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> really shine here with cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Glare of Subdual" href="#" target="_blank">Glare of Subdual</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> helping produce tokens and keep the aggressive decks at bay. Vehicles are a great way to tap Emmara for free as well with the banned-for-some <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Smuggler&#039;s Copter" href="#" target="_blank">Smuggler&#039;s Copter</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> looting and scooting all over the place.</p>

<p>Some of my favorite cards showing up on Emmara's page that are just too good not to share are <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Nullmage Shepherd" href="#" target="_blank">Nullmage Shepherd</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Citanul Hierophants" href="#" target="_blank">Citanul Hierophants</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. These give us way more utility than other comparable cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Rishkar, Peema Renegade" href="#" target="_blank">Rishkar, Peema Renegade</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> might give us in that spot. Unconditional 'mana dorkness' for all creatures gives us an incredible amount of mana in decks that double their creature output, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Nullmage Shepherd" href="#" target="_blank">Nullmage Shepherd</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> covers our base of "get that unfair thing off the battlefield" that tends to be necessary.</p>

<h2>Marching Forward</h2>
<p>Finally, there is one small theme I managed to sneak in a bit. Take a look at <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="March of the Multitudes" href="#" target="_blank">March of the Multitudes</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara, Soul of the Accord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Trostani Discordant" href="#" target="_blank">Trostani Discordant</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>(our army in a can). Notice anything?</p>
<p>They all make soldiers! A tribe that doesn't get a ton of love in Selesnya colors, but still has the ability to make a big impact. The biggest draw I found was giving them all some pumps with effects like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Field Marshal" href="#" target="_blank">Field Marshal</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Daru Warchief" href="#" target="_blank">Daru Warchief</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> to give them a little extra 'oomph' when crashing into the red zone. We can sprinkle in whatever other synergies you'd like, but I happen to think <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Darien, King of Kjeldor" href="#" target="_blank">Darien, King of Kjeldor</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Soul Warden" href="#" target="_blank">Soul Warden</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is hilarious, since it makes you very hard to kill. Even something like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Catapult Master" href="#" target="_blank">Catapult Master</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> for a little extra removal and keeping pesky commanders away is something you can work in.</p>
<p>But now, the list!</p>
