A new Secret Lair Countdown Kit comes out on November 3rd! Behold, "An Encyclopedia of Magic"! Countdown Kits are an uncommon occurrence in the Secret Lair webstore, so this one is sure to be special. Did you miss the 30th Anniversary Countdown Kit, or were you lucky enough to snag it? Either way, read on, because this article will provide the skinny on the upcoming drop.
<h2>Fun Cards, and an Enriching Secret Lair</h2>
Given the nature of this new drop, it's safe to say that "<a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/secret-lair-countdown-kit-an-encyclopedia-of-magic">An Encyclopedia of Magic</a>," as it's called, will be an enlightening trip into Magic's history. Having 26 cards, each with a name starting with a unique letter of the alphabet, this Secret Lair drop should feasibly be similar to the 30 cards from the 30th Anniversary Countdown Kit. In the interest of our readers, we have to provide full disclosure that we don't yet know the contents of this drop. Just like with any other news, we'll provide updates as we get them. Kindly give us your patience; since the new drop comes out in less than two weeks, we're sure there will be even more info soon. Like, for instance, this tidbit: Maybe, if you're lucky, your drop will contain a Halo Foil treatment on one (or perhaps more) of the cards. No telling which one, but that's the beauty of the Countdown Kits.
<h2>One or Two Previews Have Already Surfaced</h2>
Previews for this product are starting to trickle in, though sparsely, in any official capacity anyway. Questionably, there are a few official spoilers for the Encyclopedia, like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Demonic Consultation" href="#" target="_blank">Demonic Consultation</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Llanowar Elves" href="#" target="_blank">Llanowar Elves</a>, and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wasteland" href="#" target="_blank">Wasteland</a>. Rather than show you the previews, however, it's probably fine to tell you what we know for now. Safe in the knowledge that these spoilers are legitimate and from an official source, these three cards are all we know at this time. These cards are pretty great, though! Understand, however, that because this drop is in extremely limited quantities online, it's best to prepare early to grab them. Very early, in fact. Which, to be frank, the $199.99 price tag on the Secret Lair doesn't really lend itself well to.

Wizards Gives New Info on "An Encyclopedia of Magic" Secret Lair

Hold onto your chili dogs, because it's about time to queue up! The Sonic the Hedgehog drops for Secret Lair are almost live. But collectors beware; you gotta queue fast if you want to snag them in time!
To reiterate our <a href="https://edhrec.com/articles/secret-lair-x-sonic-three-new-drops-officially-announced" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previous coverage of these drops</a>, each one (except Friends &amp; Foes, which is $10 more across the board) has a retail price point of $29.99 for non-foil and $39.99 for foil. The three drops are also going to be headed to your local game stores in August (presuming they're in good standing with the Wizards Play Network and have some allocated). For those daring enough to brave the queues of the Secret Lair webstore, you can find them at 9 AM Pacific Time. That's Noon for the East Coast of the US!

Notably, the Secret Lair x Sonic: Friends &amp; Foes drop only has mechanically unique cards in it and will most likely run out of stock first. After that, the Turbo Gear drop will probably sell out, followed by the Chasing Adventure drop. Foil printings will more than likely outsell nonfoil for each respective drop.

On Tuesday, April 22nd, Chaos Vault, the newest initiative for Secret Lair, released <a href="https://secretlair.wizards.com/us/product/1107793/adventures-of-the-little-witch">"Adventures of the Little Witch"</a>, its newest drop. This drop contains four cards with art by illustrator <a href="https://heikala.com/">Heikala</a>. Are these cards particularly valuable, and do they have a home in any Magic decks? Read on, and find out!
<h2>Chaos Vault Description of "Adventures of the Little Witch"</h2>
According to the description of this new drop, "These reprints were individually selected to go with the art style and tone of Heikala's amazing work, and we think they turned out great." The art features a cozy, almost cottagecore vibe reminiscent of Studio Ghibli's Kiki's Delivery Service or other films by Hayao Miyazaki. Inspired by Miyazaki or not, it can be said that Heikala's illustrations for this drop are calm and light.

<h2>Does "Adventures" Hold Up?</h2>
While cards like <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Esika&#039;s Chariot" href="#" target="_blank">Esika&#039;s Chariot</a> saw play in Standard and <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Realms Uncharted" href="#" target="_blank">Realms Uncharted</a> sees some play in Commander, these cards do not seem to be standouts. None of them currently boasts a particularly high price tag in normal iterations. It remains to be seen if Heikala's art will change that for these versions. Nevertheless, if you like these cards and either plan to use them or want to collect the superb and cozy art, there's nothing wrong with picking up a copy of this drop.
"Adventures of the Little Witch" is currently selling on the Secret Lair webstore under the Chaos Vault subset. It sells at a price point of $29.99 for nonfoil, but for some reason, it is $59.99 <a href="https://secretlair.wizards.com/us/product/1107792/adventures-of-the-little-witch-foil-edition">in foil</a>. This is a different pricing than previous foil Secret Lair drops, of this distinction or otherwise. Does this mean there's something more to the foil iterations? This is currently unclear.
