Magic in Miniature III: An Interview With Three of Its Artists

MagicCon Atlanta's only three weeks away, and for many heading to the Peach State for a weekend of Magic: The Gathering goodness, prep for the event will include scanning through their Commander decks for cards illustrated by the several dozen artists who'll be in attendance.
Back to help out in that regard is Archidekt's "<a href="https://archidekt.com/magiccon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Artist Finder</a>" feature, a tool that's proven invaluable to signature seekers ready to bling out their favorite decks.
As of this writing, there are 63 artists scheduled to be tabling at MagicCon Atlanta later this month, so Archidekt's Artist Finder will help attendees avoid spending valuable time digging through card databases.
<h2>How to Use the Archidekt Artist Finder</h2>
All you have to do is head over to <a href="https://archidekt.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Archidekt</a>, choose your deck from the drop-down menu or import a text list, and the site will tell you instantly which cards in your deck were illustrated by artists who'll be attending MagicCon Atlanta.
Signing into the site isn't even required; you can easily paste in an export from another site to import into the program. But if you're signed in and have decks logged on the site, it's as easy as selecting each list from a drop-down menu.

Just navigate to the Artist Finder page, scroll down, and click "View artist's cards" for a convenient, ready-made syntax search revealing every card by each artist.
And while you're there, if you see a card that strikes your fancy, you can add it to one of your existing decks with the click of a button.
<h2>The Art of Archidekt</h2>
According to Archidekt Co-founder and Lead Software Engineer Michael Drewitt, this feature is something that's been requested here and there over the years, and when the site implemented it leading up to MagicCon Vegas earlier this year, he was pleased with how frequently it was used.
Something like the Art Finder is of special interest to the site's developers. For Drewitt, the art of Magic can be just as important as the mechanics. "There are pieces that speak to me more than others. Personally I think of myself as much more of a treatment kind of guy than an art kind of guy," he said. "I like shiny things, fancy borders, and cool foiling effects, but if it was just a shiny piece of cardboard with no art on it that wouldn't really do it for me either."
Visitors to the Art of Magic section of MagicCon Atlanta will have the opportunity to simply scan a QR code printed on Archidekt banners throughout the area, making use of the Art Finder as easy as can be.
