Spellify, the Hangman-inspired Magic trivia game, <a href="https://edhrec.com/games/spellify" target="_blank" rel="noopener">is now proudly hosted by EDHREC</a>.
Formerly a feature of Commander's Herald, the game's been a hit with fans since it debuted in March of 2024.
For the uninitiated, Spellify tasks players with figuring out the name of a random Magic card with the text, art, and mana cost obscured. The color of the card and the typeline remain.
Players guess letters, numbers, and symbols to fill in the blanks and provide more information, and if the guess is correct, the corresponding symbol will appear in its rightful place on the card. Only 13 guesses are allowed, so be careful!
And if all that sounds too easy, there's also a Hard Mode that further obscures the card, removing clues such as the card's color and type.
Coming soon, players will be able to tie their EDHREC accounts to the game, allowing for progress and statistics to be tracked - all the proof you need that you know Magic better than your friends. Be sure to share your results on social media, and happy guessing!

Final Fantasy Through the Ages Reprint Review

Earlier this year, long-time artist for Magic: The Gathering, Karl Kopinski, suffered a stroke.
While his recovery is ongoing, Kopinski has incurred medical costs as a result. To help defray those costs, fans of Kopinski's work have organized a charity auction with the proceeds directly benefitting Kopinski.
The auction is now live, and will close on Sunday, June 15.
<a href="https://scryfall.com/search?q=a%3Akopinski+game%3Apaper+not%3Areprint&amp;order=edhrec&amp;as=grid&amp;unique=cards">Karl Kopinski</a> to date has illustrated nearly 200 Magic: The Gathering cards and tokens beginning in 2008's Shards of Alara. Most recently, he illustrated the card <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Endrider Catalyzer" href="#" target="_blank">Endrider Catalyzer</a>, which appeared in Aetherdrift. Among Commander players, his work on <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Hinterland Harbor|ISD|241" href="#" target="_blank">Hinterland Harbor</a>, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cathars&#039; Crusade|AVR|10" href="#" target="_blank">Cathars&#039; Crusade</a> or <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Elvish Archdruid|M10|176" href="#" target="_blank">Elvish Archdruid</a> is likely best-known, but his catalog is well-represented in Commander decklists worldwide.

A native of Nottingham, England, Kopinski has worked in the illustration industry since 1997 and in addition to his work with Wizards of the Coast, has also illustrated for clients such as Ubisoft, Games Workshop, and Peter Jackson. A few months ago, Kopinski took to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DHRpP8eoKRd/">Instagram</a> to provide an update of his recovery process:
"The day after my stroke while my wife was visiting I managed to move my arm and hand, which apparently was a good sign. I decided at that point the only option was to try take the same obsessive and dedicated attitude I have taken with my art over the last 30 years and put into retraining my brain and body to do what used to be simple movements. So I picked up my pencil, it was incredibly difficult, upsetting and frustrating but repetition and hard work seems to be the only way!"
That hard work is paying off, as Instagram posts as recently as today <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DKr9TkiIXPb/">offer a look</a> at his artistic process and improvement in his extremities.
Currently at auction and featured among the available artwork is the original oil painting by Karl Kopinski himself for the card <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Reaper of the Wilds" href="#" target="_blank">Reaper of the Wilds</a>, which debuted in Theros. The piece, probably most recognizable to Magic fans among the art listed and is estimated to be worth $2,000-$2,300.

It's a scenario with which many are very familiar. You're heading to a MagicCon and perusing the mammoth list of artists who'll be in attendance, and wondering if there's an efficient way to search through your decks to see just how many cards you're playing that were illustrated by those artists.
To help, Archidekt has just announced a new "<a href="https://archidekt.com/magiccon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MagicCon</a>" feature, free for users of the deckbuilding website. For the upcoming MagicCon Vegas, there are <a href="https://mcvegas.mtgfestivals.com/en-us/art-of-magic/artist-directory.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a whopping 61 artists</a> who'll be on-hand to sign cards, sell prints and tokens, and chat with attendees. And with Archidekt's help, you can arrive prepared.
<h2>How to Use the Archidekt Artist Search Feature</h2>
Previously, you'd have two options. You could have simply memorized every card done by every artist. Or, you could open up Scryfall, search cards by each artist, and cross-reference that with every card in every deck you've got.
Now, simply sign in (though it's not required) to Archidekt, choose your deck from the drop-down menu or import a text list, and Archidekt will tell you instantly which cards in your deck were illustrated by artists who'll be attending MagicCon Vegas.
And even if you're not signed in, you can easily paste in an export from another site to import into the program.

Archidekt Announces New 'MagicCon' Feature for Searching Artists

Wizards of the Coast is partnering with the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC), and that partnership is coming in the form of a brand-new Secret Lair called Nuestra Magia.
The cards featured in the release were created with the input of multiple Latinx artists. Even the langauge usage on the cards themselves was selected in line with the partnership; alternate names in Spanish and Portuguese were used on select cards, such as "La abundancia de Yúcahu," or, <a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sylvan Library" href="#" target="_blank">Sylvan Library</a>.
Two different versions of this drop are available for purchase. One is printed with Spanish and Portuguese rules text, while the other is printed with English rules text. Both versions of the drop will be available in non-foil and rainbow foil. Nuestra Magia is set for release on June 16 at 9 a.m. PST and will be available through July 13.

Listed prices for Nuestra Magia are $29.99 USD for non-foil version, and $39.99 USD for the rainbow foil. Wizards of the Coast said fifty percent of the product price will be donated to The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures.

According to Wizards of the Coast, all of the Secret Lair division's philanthropic drops are concepted, designed, and led by the individuals who identify with the communities these drops support.
Nuestra Magia as a project was led by long-time Wizards of the Coast Art Director <a href="https://scryfall.com/search?q=a%3Aovidio">Ovidio Cartagena</a>, who for this drop served as Creative Lead.
"Putting together the ideas for this set was a very exciting challenge," recalled Cartagena. "Anyone who has traveled across Latinoamérica has seen there is a wide range of cultures, accents, and languages that populate several types of landscapes. And so, in choosing the themes for this release, we went for a combination of specific cultural references (Yucahú, O Anhangá) and general themes that can be seen in many cultures (Food token)."
Cartagena said the talent people have brought to the set has been "incredible," featuring a healthy mix of artistic styles directed by Anthony Garzzona. "(It) gives audiences a taste of how varied and rich a road trip through the Américas could be. As I went over the art and concepts presented here, I was reminded of my own cultural heritage, and also that of the people I've met from all over the continent, their stories, and their customs," said Cartagena. "These cards will get fans inspired and excited to learn about Latinoamérica's cultures and people. To my Latinx friends: I hope that, like me, you see a part of yourselves in these cards; they were made thinking of the struggle that unites us and the beauty that makes us so diverse."
