The deck we get out of it might not be the fanciest or most extravagant at the table, but we're still going to build it, because <b>every</b> card deserves a loving home!</p>

<p>This lovely couple have been on my building radar for a good while now. I opened this card in the first <em>Innistrad: Crimson Vow</em> pack I bought and have just never gotten around to building around it. Good thing EDHREC gives me an excuse to do that now! What excites me about this kind of commander is that you can really take them in so many different directions. Their ability is<em> so</em> good and wide-ranging, which allows for the inclusion of cards that might otherwise be considered for certain decks.</p>
<p>The idea here is very simple: make our <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Halana and Alena, Partners" href="#" target="_blank">commander</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> huge and then buff up an army of janky and/or underutilized cards! <p>As per usual, we're seeing a ton of expensive staples smattered throughout the deck. Cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Xenagos, God of Revels" href="#" target="_blank">Xenagos, God of Revels</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="All Will Be One" href="#" target="_blank">All Will Be One</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> do a lot of heavy lifting and for good reason: they're objectively great.</p>

<p>But you know what isn't objectively great? Spending A LOT of money when you could be spending... less money? I tried to come up with a clever transition to tell you that my version of the build is under $50 but yeah: <strong><em>the deck I built is under $50!</em></strong></p>
<p>So, without further ado, let's take a look at the five cards I've chosen to highlight today:</p>

<p>To be honest, I totally understand that most players who pay seven mana for a creature want it to be a bit more...impactful than this. That reason is why (I think) this chunky Dragon doesn't see more play. However, in our build today, this guy does WORK.</p>
<p>This deck wants to put counters on creatures and in my search for unique and fun cards this went to the top of my list. If this card gets big enough, it doesn't even have to attack to take a player out of the game! We can also remove problem creatures with that damage as well. Even with one singular counter on it this card can take care of a good number of EDH problem creatures like:</p>

<p>At it's worst, this card is a 5/5 flyer that in conjunction with our overall strategy will become a bigger and bigger beater for us throughout the game! Not bad for something that's sub-$1. Now let's talk about another really fun selection:</p>

<p>Outside of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Kibo, Uktabi Prince" href="#" target="_blank">Kibo, Uktabi Prince</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> decks this doesn't get played very often, which makes a ton of sense. But that's never stopped me before and it certainly won't now!</p>

<p>First of all: in our deck we'll most likely always have a mountain out at all times, thus guaranteeing this card being a 5/2 with menace at all times. On top of that, we throw in the +1 counters every turn from our commander and we're looking at quite the scary attacker. Also, if I can run Apes in a deck...I'm gonna run Apes in a deck, ya know?</p>
<p>Anyways, let's have a chat about another creature that loves to throw damage around:</p>

<p>This is like a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Fling" href="#" target="_blank">Fling</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> effect but without the drawback of having to sacrifice the creature! This card is a repeatable <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Soul&#039;s Fire" href="#" target="_blank">Soul&#039;s Fire</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> on a body that we can also attack with if we need to.</p>

<p>I love cards that provide us with versatility in our game plan. In other words: sometimes game scenarios will be such that we can't attack without risking losing advantage, a strong creature, or a powerful board state. Our deck relies mostly on combat, BUT it's really great to have cards in there that can skirt around that limitation.</p>
<p>And I don't know about you, but I really do think it's sometimes more satisfying to just shotgun a player's life total rather than slug it out in combat.</p>

<p>Any other <em>Streets of </em> <em>New Capenna</em> fans out there? A member of my Discord recently brought this card to my attention and I loved it immediately. I feel like every day I find a card from <em>New Capenna</em> that I absolutely love. Anyway, the tech here is honestly pretty simple: we're going to have a ton of high-power creatures in the deck, making this card one of our best pieces of removal!</p>
<p>We can snipe black permanents at a discounted rate, AND on top of that whatever creature we kill will be exiled instead of going to the graveyard, which is always super choice!</p>
<p>(Also, the idea of a normal-sized bouncer at a club beating up something like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt" href="#" target="_blank">Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is really funny to me.)</p>

<p>Alright let's chat about our last (and most flavorful) card of the day:</p>

<p>Here's the facts: If I CAN put a gingerbread man into a deck, I WILL put a gingerbread man into a deck. This build is no different, and honestly, this card is one of our best attackers in the deck!</p>
<p>In our colors we don't have a ton of pure evasion, a lot of it is menace and trample-style effects. There's always flying I suppose, but <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Gingerbrute" href="#" target="_blank">Gingerbrute</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> can make itself purely unblockable which is incredible for us when we're trying to throw a ton of damage around in combat!</p>

Now here we are, and it's better than I could've imagined. Not only is the art incredible, but Radagast's creature-looting ability is so much fun and reminds me a lot of one of my other personal favorite builds: my <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Volo, Itinerant Scholar" href="#" target="_blank">Volo, Itinerant Scholar</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Popular Entertainer" href="#" target="_blank">Popular Entertainer</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> deck!</p>

<p>So, as we can see, people are gravitating towards playing a bunch of <strong><em>Chonky Boiz </em></strong>like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Apex Devastator" href="#" target="_blank">Apex Devastator</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Craterhoof Behemoth" href="#" target="_blank">Craterhoof Behemoth</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>

<p>Now, not only are these creatures just generally amazing, but their high mana costs ensure that we're able to loot through as much of the top of our deck as possible and find some more juicy (and probably expensive) cards.</p>
<p>However, I say<strong> Nay</strong> to that.</p>
<p>Today, we're going to be playing a bunch of small creatures, Green Weenies, if you will... and getting lots of fun synergy and payoffs from casting multiple small creatures per turn! <em>And</em> we're going to be doing all of this for under $50!</p>
<p>Let's not dilly dally any longer, because I want to talk about the staple card of this build...</p>

<p>He's just a little guy! So cute.</p>
<p>Anyway, this card and others like it (meaning 1 and 2 drops with fun abilities and unique creature types) are the staples of this build.</p>

<p>Their small mana costs can be considered a drawback since we're not going to get to loot through 10 cards at once, however, since this deck is chock full of creatures, we're almost always going to hit something! Since this strategy relies on having and casting a ton of creatures, these tiny guys turn <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Radagast the Brown" href="#" target="_blank">Radagast the Brown</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> ability into pseudo card draw!</p>
<p>This will help us cast more creatures, build a larger board, and eventually swing out for a win! And listen, a lot of these weenies have awesome, utilitarian abilities: from trample to deathtouch to countering activated abilities, so we're going to be set for a ton of different game scenarios.</p>
<p>Now let's take a look at some cards that support this janky concoction:</p>

<p>The idea here is pretty simple: our way of winning in this deck is through combat damage. Our tiny creatures unfortunately don't have a lot of hitting power on their own, but never fear, because <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Radagast the Brown" href="#" target="_blank">Radagast</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is all about friends helping out friends.</p>
<p>In comes this green anthem effect that pumps up our entire board (save for the few artifact creatures in this list) and can also enable trample for a single creature if the game scenario calls for that.</p>
<p>You might be scoffing at the very idea of throwing all of this chaff in here, but hey, you know what playing chaff lets us do? <p>Not only is this artwork absolutely incredible, but this card is what we like to call a <strong>FINISHER,</strong> folks.</p>
<p>In a deck that wants to win through combat, giving all of our creatures evasion of any kind is going to be an absolute boon for us.</p>
<p>Additionally, it'll allow us to loot through 5 cards from the top of our deck! All that value for less than 50 cents? I'll take that any day!</p>
<p>Let's move on to something a liiiiiiitle more unassuming though, shall we...</p>

<p>This has been one of my pet cards for a while now. I used to run it in a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Yeva, Nature&#039;s Herald" href="#" target="_blank">Yeva, Nature&#039;s Herald</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> deck that has since been taken apart, but I'm so ecstatic to have found what is - in my opinion - an even better home for it!</p>
<p>I'd say in a good number of minds this card is slow, inefficient, and "unplayable", but as we know <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Radagast the Brown" href="#" target="_blank">Radagast</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> loves ALL creatures and so... voila!</p>
<p>Getting one of our tiny creatures back to our hand every single upkeep is really good for our deck, especially for cards that love when we recast things:</p>

<p>Jokes aside, I love this card for this strategy, when it enters we get to look through 7 card from the top of our library, THEN we get to play with our top card revealed and cast stuff from there if we can!</p>
<p>This card essentially gives us an additional creature to cast every turn! And it gets really tasty when we combine it with a card like the aforementioned <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Yeva, Nature&#039;s Herald" href="#" target="_blank">Yeva, Nature&#039;s Herald</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>

<p>I know we're coming up on summer, but that opening line was way too good to pass up. Anyway, today's selection is all about churning out as many of <em>Magic</em>'s most popular short kings as possible: Goblins!</p>
<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin" href="#" target="_blank">Krenko</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is a relatively popular commander that can produce droves of these little red 1/1s; all we have to do is buff Krenko up. People love using Equipment and Auras to do the trick, but the cards I've chosen encourage us to take this in another direction!</p>
<p>Today, we're going to be spellslinging some Goblins by replacing Equipment and Auras with instants and sorceries. Also, we're going to be doing it all for $30! (Technically $29.82 without basic lands, but who's counting?)</p>

<p>Per usual, we're going to throw <em>all</em> of these away to save ourselves some time and money, because let's face it: Who wants to spend all that time casting and equipping when we could be pumping up Krenko and cranking out <strong>Gobbos?!</strong> This brings us to our first selection of the day...</p>

<p>Now, are instants and sorceries more reliable than permanents like Equipment or Auras? No. They are temporary by nature, but honestly, isn't that what life is all about? Let's eschew the relative safety and dependability of permanents. Let's live our life to the fullest and go as <em>fast</em> and as <em>recklessly</em> as we can, because you know what?</p>
<p><em><strong>Life is short and so are Goblins.</strong></em></p>
<p>All jokes and philosophy aside, being able to cast <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Titan&#039;s Strength" href="#" target="_blank">Titan&#039;s Strength</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> for one mana to get five Goblins out of it once we attack is a pretty amazing deal. On top of that, some cards (like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sure Strike" href="#" target="_blank">Sure Strike</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>) offer us dope mechanics, like first strike or trample, or just straight-up value, like scrying or drawing cards.</p>
<p>And before you correct me, the reason we would create five Goblin tokens is because I also included <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin" href="#" target="_blank">Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>'s own ability in the math.</p>

<p>Alright, maybe I was a bit overzealous in the last section, because here's a permanent that really vibes with what we're trying to do here.</p>
<p>Obviously, we're going to be casting lots of noncreature spells with <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Scroll of the Masters" href="#" target="_blank">Scroll of the Masters</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. We're rewarded for it by accumulating charge counters (which will add up fast) and converting those charge counters into a super powerful pump effect that we can target Krenko with.</p>

<p>Over the course of the game this can get out of hand and produce a ton of tokens, and once you start buffing up THOSE guys? That's game over right there.</p>

<p>I have always loved this card. Honestly, that's why I'm so geeked to be writing this series, because now I get to actively find homes for all my janky or underloved favorites.</p>
<p>Anyway, it's pretty clear what this card is meant to do: <strong>Win.</strong></p>
<p>Whether you're playing Equipment and Auras or instants and sorceries, there's really only two ways to win with <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin" href="#" target="_blank">Krenko</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and that's either through commander damage or good ol' fashioned combat. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Weapon Surge" href="#" target="_blank">Weapon Surge</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> covers our bases for the latter.</p>
<p>With a bevy of 1/1 Goblins at our disposal, we can cast this card for the <em>Overload </em>cost and essentially double the power of all of our creatures, give them all first strike, and go to town.</p>
<p>Oh, and if the scenario isn't right for that, we can just play <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Weapon Surge" href="#" target="_blank">Weapon Surge</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> for one mana and pump our commander with it. Either way, we're winning!</p>

<p>Hm, my speech for <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sure Strike" href="#" target="_blank">Sure Strike</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is aging rather poorly the more this article goes on...</p>
<p>But I mean, LOOK at what this card can do for us! If you've got a souped-up <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin" href="#" target="_blank">Krenko</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and you're ready to finish someone off, you can <em>easily</em> end up pumpin' your Goblin army by +5/+5 or +6/+6<em>. </em></p>
<p>On top of that, this card gives them all trample. I had no idea this card even existed before making this decklist, and I am now in love with it.</p>
<p>Throne is super powerful and even more fun when combined with evasion or power-doublers:</p>

<p>Our last highlighted card for the article is another one of my favorite bulk commons. There's a couple of benefits that I'd like to have a chat with you about.</p>
<p>Right off the bat, we're going to be sniping anything on our opponents' boards that have toughness equal to 1. That means this card is an absolute house against token decks... but those token decks will also be our worst enemy, since they'll have enough blockers to fend off our Goblin invasion. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cosmotronic Wave" href="#" target="_blank">Cosmotronic Wave</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>'s first ability takes care of all that.</p>

Welcome to <i>Finding Homes For Janky Cards</i>, the series where we rifle through that big pile of bulk you've got lying around and find a package of five janky, budget, or under-utilized cards and pair them with a commander that will help them shine. The deck we get out of it might not be the fanciest or most extravagant at the table, but we're still going to build it because <b>every</b> card deserves a loving home!</p>

<p>Emmara is a pretty popular commander who boasts over 2,000 decks to her name at the time of writing this article. People love to build token-based brews around her for obvious reasons, but today I'd like to take a shot at building <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> as a Vehicle commander!</p>
<p>Builders have already done this since the tap ability on this card synergizes with the <em>Crew </em>Mechanic perfectly, but I'd like to showcase some really awesome budget cards that I think can work in the deck.</p>
<p>Oh, and did I mention my build is under $50? Well, just in case I didn't: <strong>It's under $50! ($45.23 at the time of writing this article)</strong></p>

<p>As usual, we're seeing a TON of expensive staples here. Cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bennie Bracks, Zoologist" href="#" target="_blank">Bennie Bracks, Zoologist</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Seedborn Muse" href="#" target="_blank">Seedborn Muse</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mondrak, Glory Dominus" href="#" target="_blank">Mondrak, Glory Dominus</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> provide so much advantage for token builds, but since we're taking this in a more Vehicular direction, we're kicking these guys to the curb!</p>
<p>Here's something wild to think about: the three aforementioned cards cost about the same amount as the entire deck list you'll see at the end of this article. How do we achieve such a low cost? Keep reading!</p>

<p>I just absolutely love this card for this build. It comes down on turn one, and on the next turn we can tap our commander with its ability. This will not only generate us one mana of any color (amazing in a multi-color deck), but also a cheeky 1/1 token from our commander's ability! Turn two with three creatures ready to <em>Crew</em> on the next turn? Sign. Me. Up.</p>
<p>The more tokens we can generate, the better, because they'll all help out with some of the Vehicles we're running that have higher <em>Crew</em> costs, like these guys:</p>

<p>With Saruli Caretaker and other <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Loam Dryad" href="#" target="_blank">cards</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> like it, we can get these chunky things started (get it? because Vehicles?) and start swinging out for some damage!</p>
<h2><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dauntless Aven" href="#" target="_blank">Dauntless Aven</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span></h2>

<p>This is a card I had never seen before brewing up this build and searching "untap" abilities on Scryfall, but I'm glad we can now salvage it from the bulk pile!</p>
<p>In our deck we're going to want to continuously tap and untap <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Emmara, Soul of the Accord" href="#" target="_blank">Emmara</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> so that we can keep getting more and more tokens to <em>Crew</em> with. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Dauntless Aven" href="#" target="_blank">Dauntless Aven</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> provides us with that by being an evasive creature that can swing in relatively unharmed and untap our commander.</p>
<p>But also, at a base-level evaluation, a 2/1 flier can be pretty formidable when armed with something like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Gavel of the Righteous" href="#" target="_blank">Gavel of the Righteous</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, which we're running in this deck as a finisher of sorts. Additionally, with two power on the board we can <em>Crew</em> our Vehicles even faster, which leaves room to maybe even go to combat with some of our spare 1/1s. All of this utility from a four-cent common? I'll take that any day of the week, baby.</p>

<p>Listen, in any deck where you <em><strong>do something</strong></em>, you want to run cards that synergize with that something. In Vehicles decks, we tap creatures. So wouldn't it be nice if we had a suite of really awesome budget creatures that give us advantage of some kind when they tap to <em>Crew</em> our Vehicles? Well, look no further than <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Samite Herbalist" href="#" target="_blank">Samite Herbalist</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and its friends:</p>

<p>Whether it's scrying and life gain, buffing power, or creating more tokens, all of these budget options do work for us in this build!</p>

<p>This card is a pretty straightforward inclusion in my opinion, yet I don't see it played much at all and the stats back this statement up. However, cards like this and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Congregate" href="#" target="_blank">Congregate</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> do a ton of work on most board states with creatures on them.</p>
<p>We're going to have a good amount of both creatures <em>and </em>artifacts on our board in most games, so <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="War Report" href="#" target="_blank">War Report</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> will almost never be dead in hand. Also, we can cast this at instant speed, which makes it insanely versatile! I want to add that this card also counts every creature and artifact, not just our own.</p>
<p>Imagine: your opponents also have pretty full board states and one of them swings out at you for what they think is lethal, but you cast this in response and pad your life total! I for one would love to see my friends deflate after seeing that cast.</p>

<p>I personally have had a ton of success running <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Congregate" href="#" target="_blank">Congregate</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> in my decks, so I think <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="War Report" href="#" target="_blank">War Report</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> will do the same amount of work for us in this build.</p>
<h2><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Goring Ceratops" href="#" target="_blank">Goring Ceratops</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span></h2>

<p>This is by far my favorite card of the 5 listed here (don't tell the others I said that). Is it the most efficient card in the world? Not at all. However, that last ability makes it SO much fun to run in a deck where we care about attacking!</p>
<p>Granting double strike to all of our attacking creatures is an insane way to finish off a game. Not only will we be dealing double damage, but we'll also be getting two triggers off of anything that cares about dealing combat damage. Super sweet!</p>
<p>We also are running more classic finishers, like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="True Conviction" href="#" target="_blank">True Conviction</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and the underrated <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bond of Discipline" href="#" target="_blank">Bond of Discipline</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, but in my eyes, nothing will ever beat a chonky, stompy creature.</p>

Rishkar is a relatively unpopular choice if you're looking for a mono-green commander, boasting only<em> 188</em> decks to his name at the time of writing this article. I can only assume that most builders look at this card and think it'd be way more viable in the 99, which is mostly correct... but more on that later. <p>One glance at the decklist shows us a classic +1/+1 counter beatdown deck with expensive staples like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Ozolith" href="#" target="_blank">The Ozolith</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Great Henge" href="#" target="_blank">The Great Henge</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Branching Evolution" href="#" target="_blank">Branching Evolution</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, but if you know me, my channel, or the first article in this series at all, you know we're about to take this in a very different (and much less expensive) direction!</p>
<p>Do the words "<em><strong>$50 Eldrazi Deck</strong></em>" mean anything to you? Well, if they don't, they're about to! Today, we are taking a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Rishkar, Peema Renegade" href="#" target="_blank">Rishkar, Peema Renegade</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> build and turning it into a rampaging ramp machine that slams down Eldrazi to smash face and wreak havoc. How are we going to achieve this? Let's take a look at our janky selections!</p>

<p>In 0% of 1,049,231 Decks</p>

<p>Typically, if this card is used at all, it's to place a +1 counter on a creature with some kind of evasion and subsequently start the <em>Proliferate</em> or counter-doubling engine. Stuff like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Phantom Warrior" href="#" target="_blank">Phantom Warrior</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> or <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Cold-Eyed Selkie" href="#" target="_blank">Cold-Eyed Selkie</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> are ideal targets for this.</p>
<p>That's basically all it does, and unless you're running a blink strategy (kind of hard to do in mono-green), cards like Grovedancer really just end up entering the battlefield, putting a counter on something, then just kind of... sitting there.</p>
<p>However, in a deck helmed by Rishkar that's built around spitting Eldrazis out as fast as possible, this card, and others like it, become the all-stars of our build. <p>With our build today being chock-full of these forgotten draft classics, we now have a super fun, janky, and easy-on-the-wallet suite of mana dorks! Not only that, but if we actually take a closer look at the text on our commander, we discover that we have even more room for unique mana dorks.</p>

<p>In this series, we're almost always dealing with cards that have a 0% on EDHREC. However, the dope-ness of this card simply cannot be ignored, because repeated removal on a stick is <em>sweet</em>. Combining this with <em>Proliferate</em> effects and counter-doublers nets you a <em>ton</em> of value.</p>
<p>That's not why we're here, though. I mean, removal is all fine and dandy, but remember, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Rishkar, Peema Renegade" href="#" target="_blank">Rishkar</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> says that any<strong><em> </em></strong>creature with <em><strong>a</strong></em> counter on it can tap for green. That means we're not limited to just running +1 counter synergies here, and guess what: our little Ninja Turtle enters the battlefield with a <em>deathtouch</em> counter, so, in this build, this card now does even more work that it did before. Not only is it repeatable removal on a stick, but it's also a mana dork that serves our larger strategy. Big win today for Turtle Ninjas! (<em>Wizards,</em> please print more Turtle Ninjas.)</p>

<p>We're extremely creature-heavy in this build, so finding ways to still run removal and card draw is crucial. In comes this bulk common to save the day for us! Most of our mana dorks and synergies in this deck are still based on +1 counters, so this activated ability will almost never be expensive for us to pay for us. More often than not, we'll just be paying one or two mana to draw a card. While yes, it's not the most efficient way to draw cards, it's <em>way</em> less expensive and <em>much</em> more unique than just slamming in a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Toski, Bearer of Secrets" href="#" target="_blank">Toski, Bearer of Secrets</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and calling it a day, although if you had the money to do just that, I wouldn't blame you.</p>

<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Deepwood Denizen" href="#" target="_blank">Deepwood Denizen</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> will net us card draw every single turn and get our engine running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Nothing but the best for our upcoming Eldrazi. By the way, if it comes down to it, a beefed-up 3/2 with vigilance can get the job done in combat as well. Don't sleep on your bulk, kiddos!</p>
<p>Okay, so we've looked at dorks and card draw, now let's take a look at the stars of our show: the budget Eldrazi.</p>

<p>When I first came up with the idea for this deck, I almost gave up immediately because I thought the budget was going to be insurmountable. All I could think of were the pantheon of terrifying Eldrazi that we all know and <del>love</del> fear.</p>

<p>However, to my delighted surprise, there are actually a number of really great budget Eldrazi. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Ulamog&#039;s Crusher" href="#" target="_blank">Ulamog&#039;s Crusher</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is a big beater that'll come down ideally pretty early, given how much mana we'll be able to generate, and start wreaking absolute havoc on our opponents with that <em>Annihilator</em> ability.</p>
<p>Cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Deceiver of Form" href="#" target="_blank">Deceiver of Form</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Breaker of Armies" href="#" target="_blank">Breaker of Armies</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Decimator of the Provinces" href="#" target="_blank">Decimator of the Provinces</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> all provide excellent support, whether that be in the form of fun cloning shenanigans or just plain ol' stompy stuff. Imagine turning all of your mana dorks into a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Void Winnower" href="#" target="_blank">Void Winnower</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>! I know having more than one copy would be redundant, but it's fun to rub salt in the wound sometimes, ya know?</p>

<p>Now listen, Eldrazi are pretty scary, and your opponents will try and take good care to make sure they stay off the field, so how can we win if our big boys don't get a chance to shine? Follow me this way, if you would be so kind....</p>

<p>I have chosen a card that is in 2% of decks on EDHREC, rather than 0%. I am a sell out, a heathen, a fool.</p>
<p>Just kidding! I honestly think this card is still slept on enough to talk about. Say hello to the budget version of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Craterhoof Behemoth" href="#" target="_blank">Craterhoof Behemoth</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>!</p>
<p>I absolutely love Bogbeast. At base level you get an <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Overrun" href="#" target="_blank">Overrun</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> effect, and if you're running some extra lifegain, you're off to the races. If our Eldrazi get iced, we'll more than likely still have a ton of creatures on board; remember all our little mana dorks? All we gotta do is attack with our Bogbeast and we can finish off our opponents through classic combat!</p>
<p>We also have tons of other ways to win through combat, like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Battlefront Krushok" href="#" target="_blank">Battlefront Krushok</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, to force one-to-one blocks, as well as <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Clamavus" href="#" target="_blank">Clamavus</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, for a really fun power buff!</p>
