Mm'menon, Uthros ExileMm'menon, Uthros Exile | Art by Fajareka Setiawan
When I first read over Mm'menon, Uthros ExileMm'menon, Uthros Exile, I didn’t immediately see its potential. However, the more I brewed around this Jellyfish, the more I discovered the strength hidden in those tentacles.
Getting a +1/+1 counter each time an artifact enters is a nice effect, but this deck has another layer to it that your opponents might not notice at first glance: it’s an artifact deck, and artifact decks can be broken.
As we go over this list, you’ll see that there’s plenty of ways to flood the board with trinkets that grow your commander. Whether it’s incrementally, or with big bursts of artifact tokens. Each time one of those permanents hits the board, you tick up the counters on Mm’menon, which could distract your foes from the fact that your board is covered in value pieces.
So join me, Tyler ‘Savesya’ Bucks, as I go over this budget deck list for Mm'menon, Uthros ExileMm'menon, Uthros Exile. You can pick up this entire list for less than $20 (based on TCGPlayer prices, since those closely resemble what your local game store might charge) and really does have the ability to snowball out of control.
Let’s not waste any more time and get right into it!
Metallic Meat & Potatoes
Every deck needs card draw, ramp, and removal. While there are some spells in this list that work for a broad number of decks, here are a few synergistic inclusions that ensure your plan is moving forward as you gain more value.
Card Advantage
- Mask of MemoryMask of Memory: Not only does this come down and add a counter to Mm’menon, it also turns your combat damage into useful card selection.
- Inspired TinkeringInspired Tinkering: This is basically Jeska's WillJeska's Will at home. Giving you access to three cards, as well as bringing out three artifacts, could make for an explosive turn!
- Goggles of NightGoggles of Night: Hitting your opponents and getting an OptOpt-like effect will help ensure that you're consistently drawing into your deck’s main game plan.
- Reverse EngineerReverse Engineer: In this deck, there's a good chance your board will be full of artifacts, so you'll have plenty of help with casting this draw spell.
- Cerebral DownloadCerebral Download: This is one of the newer cards on the list, and it’s incredible for this strategy. It doesn't just add three cards to your hand; it ensures that you draw the best three off the top of your library.
- One with the MachineOne with the Machine: There’s a good chance that this spell can be a full hand refill, especially when you have high mana value cards like Thought MonitorThought Monitor in this deck.
Mana Advantage
- Dowsing DeviceDowsing Device: This card giving out haste and a power boost is solid for pushing your game plan forward, but it can also ramp you by flipping onto its land side relatively easily in this deck.
- Diamond Pick-AxeDiamond Pick-Axe: Since this creates a Treasure token on attack, that means your commander will get another counter on it just before it smacks in for damage.
- Coveted JewelCoveted Jewel: This mana rock tends to be a little risky to run in a deck. However, since Mm’menon naturally has evasion, you're likely to get this right back if your opponents make it through your artifact defenses.
- Brass's BountyBrass's Bounty: Sure, this is a seven-mana spell, but making a Treasure for each land you control in the late game could allow you to take someone out with commander damage.
- Hit the Mother LodeHit the Mother Lode: Discover 10 will give you a free spell off the top of your library. It's okay if the card you hit isn’t too expensive, because those Treasures hitting your board is the real value you're looking for here.
- Hell to PayHell to Pay: Having an effect like this, attached to removal, could be pivotal for closing out a game in this deck. If someone has a flying blocker, you can blow it up to make way for a big Jellyfish smack.
Disruption
- Desculpting BlastDesculpting Blast: I love this new spell from Edge of Eternities, since you can bounce a pivotal permanent from your foes’ board, plus it can get you a Drone if that threat was attacking you.
- Diversion UnitDiversion Unit: This Robot protects your board, attacks your opponents, and triggers your commander when it enters the field. Too bad it has such a sad little face...
- Brackish BlunderBrackish Blunder: Getting rid of someone’s best creature, even if it’s temporary, can trip them up completely. Plus, that Map offers you another way to add a counter to Mm’menon.
- Ghirapur Aether GridGhirapur Aether Grid: If your board is filled with artifacts, then having a way to convert them into damage could be a matter of life and death for you. Closing out a game by simply tapping down your whole board is the kind of sneaky win I like pulling off in Commander.
- Waltz of RageWaltz of Rage: Since your deck is centered around Mm'menon, Uthros ExileMm'menon, Uthros Exile, there’s a good chance this spell decimates the table, while leaving your commander safe and sound to close out the game.
- Kazuul's FuryKazuul's Fury: you might get to the point where it’s just you, your opponent, and their big board of blockers. At the end of the day, flinging a Jellyfish at their face could be your best option to win that match.

In Closing
Well, there you have it, a super budget friendly deck built around Mm'menon, Uthros ExileMm'menon, Uthros Exile. Like I said before, this new legend didn’t immediately catch my attention, but hopefully that’s where some of its true power lies. When you sit down at a table and everyone shows off their commander, this Jellyfish won’t scare too many people before the game starts.
Once this deck starts rolling, it can be pretty difficult to slow down. Whether it’s making an army of artifact creature tokens or building up your commander’s punching power, when you move to combat, it’s going to be tense for the rest of the table.
So, let me know what you think. Did this list catch your interest, or is this one going to float under your radar? Let me know in the comments below.
