<p>Artifacts are one of the most played and most powerful card types in <em>Magic</em>. Regardless of the format, artifacts will often rise to the top. Cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mox Sapphire" href="#" target="_blank">Mox Sapphire</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Arcbound Ravager" href="#" target="_blank">Arcbound Ravager</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and even <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Arcum&#039;s Astrolabe" href="#" target="_blank">Arcum&#039;s Astrolabe</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> have been winning games in all eras and formats of the game. Some artifacts stand above the rest, reaching legendary heights and status.</p>
<p>Just because a card is legendary doesn't mean it's better than another card; and sometimes it doesn't even mean a card is good. Today, though, we're looking at my list for the ten best legendary artifacts in the Commander format.</p>
<p>Why am I putting these ten above all the rest? You'll have to read below to find out. In no particular order, let's get into the list.</p>
<h2><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The One Ring" href="#" target="_blank">The One Ring</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span></h2>

<p>Starting the list off with a bang and one of the two <a href="https://edhrec.com/top/game-changers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Game Changers</a>, we have <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The One Ring" href="#" target="_blank">The One Ring</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. If all this card did was come down and give you protection from everything for a single turn, it might still be too good at <span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-4" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>. Instead, it comes with a repeatable draw ability that's easy to abuse for many artifact-based combo decks.</p>
<p>Notable boogeymen of the format, such as <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Urza, Lord High Artificer" href="#" target="_blank">Urza, Lord High Artificer</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Magda, Brazen Outlaw" href="#" target="_blank">Magda, Brazen Outlaw</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, and fittingly, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sauron, the Dark Lord" href="#" target="_blank">Sauron, the Dark Lord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> love to have this card at their disposal.</p>
<p>While getting protection requires casting the card, it's often worth resetting the burden counters by blinking it repeatedly.</p>

<p><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Great Henge" href="#" target="_blank">The Great Henge</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is one of the most disgusting cards for a creature-heavy deck. Cards doing too much is nothing new in the year 2026, but did they need to let this card add mana, draw cards, and gain life? A must-answer threat - the same as most things on this list - The Great Henge is a card that can let green creature decks flip an okay turn into a game-winning turn in the blink of an eye.</p>
<h2><span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bolas&#039;s Citadel" href="#" target="_blank">Bolas&#039;s Citadel</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span></h2>

<p>A true 1A 1B situation when it comes to which card is more combotastic: The One Ring or <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bolas&#039;s Citadel" href="#" target="_blank">Bolas&#039;s Citadel</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. Citadel can lead to some of the craziest turns seen in a game of <em>Magic</em> and is sitting with The One Ring on the Game Changer list for good reason. Cards that allow you to cheat on mana costs, in this case by paying life, immediately become dangerous.</p>
<p>The sacrifice effect on Bolas's Citadel will often act as a win condition paired with cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Blood Artist" href="#" target="_blank">Blood Artist</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> and <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mayhem Devil" href="#" target="_blank">Mayhem Devil</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>

<p>A win condition that has stood the test of time, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Akroma&#039;s Memorial" href="#" target="_blank">Akroma&#039;s Memorial</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> stays winning games no matter the year. While not the cheapest way to pump up creatures at <span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-7" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>, what you give your creatures is well worth the cost. Giving everything a cocktail of combat keywords and protection from two colors makes it so that your creatures are going to get into the red zone.</p>
<p>Memorial runs the gamut of decks that utilize it. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Bello, Bard of the Brambles" href="#" target="_blank">Bello, Bard of the Brambles</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> loves to turn it into a creature, while <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Jodah, the Unifier" href="#" target="_blank">Jodah, the Unifier</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> loves to cheat it out of the deck or use it to bring along another legendary friend.</p>
<p>Being another colorless card means that everything from <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Karn, Legacy Reforged" href="#" target="_blank">Karn, Legacy Reforged</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> to <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut" href="#" target="_blank">Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> want to get their hands on it.</p>

<p>Do you like to draw cards? How about gaining life? What if you got to double up on those effects all the time? Then you would be interested in <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Alhammarret&#039;s Archive" href="#" target="_blank">Alhammarret&#039;s Archive</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. It's perfect for two different strategies and a simple but wanted effect for those strategies.</p>
<p>A new design philosophy seems to be "Do an effect then do it again," and the Archive is no stranger to that - just an older one.</p>

<p>The only Equipment on the list, and, as strange as it sounds, one that's not often seen in Equipment decks. <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Helm of the Host" href="#" target="_blank">Helm of the Host</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is one of the best ways to double up on your commander or any other legendary creature you want.</p>
<p>It can lead to infinite combos when played in a <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Godo, Bandit Warlord" href="#" target="_blank">Godo, Bandit Warlord</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> list, but looking at some of its top commanders, making copies of <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Roxanne, Starfall Savant" href="#" target="_blank">Roxanne, Starfall Savant</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> or <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Deadpool, Trading Card" href="#" target="_blank">Deadpool, Trading Card</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> sounds good to me.</p>

<p>A card that can lead to brain-numbing levels of math, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="The Ozolith" href="#" target="_blank">The Ozolith</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> also brings along rules and interactions that make you stop and say, "It works like that?" A staple in counter decks of any kind, be it +1/+1 counters or keyword counters seen in <em>Ikoria</em>, and should possibly see play in decks wanting to blight their own creatures.</p>
<p>The best bonus of The Ozolith is getting to double up on moving counters when dealing with cards like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Arcbound Ravager" href="#" target="_blank">Arcbound Ravager</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> or <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp" href="#" target="_blank">Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>

<p>For a while, I debated if this should be one of the other legal legendary Moxen, but sometimes you just can't beat a classic. So while <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mox Amber" href="#" target="_blank">Mox Amber</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> doesn't quite make the list, <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Mox Opal" href="#" target="_blank">Mox Opal</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> gets a rightful place. Seen in every format possible, even finding itself on a ban list now and then, Mox Opal might need a few friends to get it going. But once it does, there is no stopping it.</p>
<p>How can a simple mana rock compete with the likes of other cards on this list, you ask? The combination of playing well inside artifact strategies, costing <span class="mana-container-container"><span class="mana-container"><i class="ms ms-cost ms-0" style="margin-left: inherit !important;"></i></span></span>, and tapping for any color needed does wonders for a simple little card. It doesn't hurt that this card has a plethora of great art, too.</p>

<p>What is it with all these big, colorless artifacts and wanting to be part of a combo? While I might not have an answer, I do have another for the list: <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Planetarium of Wan Shi Tong" href="#" target="_blank">Planetarium of Wan Shi Tong</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>. Casting things for free, as I mentioned, is always a strong effect, no matter how you get to do it. The Planetarium grants you a free cast whenever you scry or surveil a card. Cast something as harmless as an <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Opt" href="#" target="_blank">Opt</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>, then cast another card for free. How about playing one of the <a href="https://edhrec.com/lands/five-color#surveillands">Surveil Lands </a>and playing what you left on top for free?</p>
<p>The home of the big smart Bird from <em>Avatar </em>should not be underestimated<em>,</em> as <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Wan Shi Tong, Librarian" href="#" target="_blank">Wan Shi Tong, Librarian</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> is the knower of 10,000 things.</p>

<p>Last up on the list is a controversial pick, to say the least. It's by far the weakest card on here when you compare everything to each other. But <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krark&#039;s Thumb" href="#" target="_blank">Krark&#039;s Thumb</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> might be the most important to the strategy it sees play in. The only one of Krark's thumbs that is legal - sorry <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krark&#039;s Other Thumb" href="#" target="_blank">Krark&#039;s Other Thumb</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> - it's often the card most sought after when playing a coin flip deck.</p>
<p>Every <a href="https://edhrec.com/tags/coin-flip" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Coin Flip</a> deck should be playing the thumb, and that goes all the way to <a href="https://edhrec.com/commanders/krark-the-thumbless-sakashima-of-a-thousand-faces/cedh#cardlists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cEDH builds</a> like <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Krark, the Thumbless" href="#" target="_blank">Krark, the Thumbless</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span> paired with <span class="edhrecp__link"><a class="edhrecp__link-a" content="Sakashima of a Thousand Faces" href="#" target="_blank">Sakashima of a Thousand Faces</a><span class="edhrecp__link-image"></span></span>.</p>
