Eternal Might Precon Upgrade Guide - Aetherdrift

Welcome back for our final precon guide for Aetherdrift. Today we’re upgrading Eternal Might, the Commander preconstructed deck led by Temmet, Naktamun’s WillTemmet, Naktamun’s Will

If you’re just joining us, go check out our Precon Review of the deck here. It got a solid grade from me due its power level and excellent new cards.

This deck’s all about Zombies, Zombies, and more Zombies. But can we make it more Zombie? I think we can.

Let’s tune up.

What’s in the Original Deck?

Eternal Might is white, blue, and black (Esper) and led by Temmet, Naktamun’s WillTemmet, Naktamun’s Will, a 4/4 Zombie Wizard with vigilance and menace. Whenever we attack we draw a card and then discard a card, and whenever we draw a card our Zombies get +1/+1 until end of turn.

Hashaton, Scarab’s Fist

Our backup commander is Hashaton, Scarab’s FistHashaton, Scarab’s Fist, a 1/3 Zombie Wizard. Whenever we discard a creature card, Hashaton lets us pay to create a tapped, 4/4 Zombie token copy of that creature.

Here’s the original deck list for Eternal Might:

What Budget Cards Can We Add to Eternal Might?

Like always, we’re gonna break this upgrade guide into two parts, the first for budget cards (under $5), and the second for non-budget ($5 and up).

The biggest thing this deck needs is more card draw, so Temmet can keep pumping up our undead army. For that purpose, we’re adding in:

Peer Into the AbyssPeer Into the Abyss is a particularly spicy card to play if you’ve got a board full of Zombies with some kind of evasion. A few cards in the precon provide that, like Eternal SkylordEternal Skylord and On Wings of GoldOn Wings of Gold, but we’ll also throw in a Graf HarvestGraf Harvest to be more menacing, and the Hordewing SkaabHordewing Skaab gives our Zombies wings.

Kindred Discovery
Peer Into the Abyss
Windfall

Next on our upgrade to-do list is to beef up our token output. For that we’ve got:

Then there’s just a few odds and ends left. Like Fellwar StoneFellwar Stone and Rooftop StormRooftop Storm for a bit of acceleration, and Death BaronDeath Baron to give our Zombies deathtouch for warding off attacks.

Cleaver Skaab
Endless Ranks of the Dead
Rooftop Storm

It’s a 100-card format, so if we put cards in, we gotta take some out. These guys are staying dead:

And a few more inexpensive cards to consider for your upgrade:

*Please note, Varina, Lich Queen was under $5 at time of writing, but has since spiked; you can see all the details here. However, if you're upgrading this precon, she's worth splurging on.

What Non-Budget Cards Should We Add to Eternal Might?

Now it’s time to take our budget upgraded list and dial it up to ten with some pricier cards.

Black Market ConnectionsBlack Market Connections is perfect for this deck, since it does everything we want. Card draw, ramp (Treasures), and Shapeshifter tokens which count as Zombies. Bone MiserBone Miser is also an all-star in this deck, since we’ve got so many discard effects. And Liliana, Dreadhorde GeneralLiliana, Dreadhorde General makes us tokens, draws us cards, and wipes out our opponents' stuff.

If we really want to up our card draw, we can't go wrong with Teferi’s Puzzle BoxTeferi’s Puzzle Box, which ensures that we’ll draw enough cards every single turn to have Temmet making our Zombies look like they took their gym membership past January.

Teferi’s Puzzle Box
Cryptcaller Chariot

For more tokens, we’ll toss in:

For some acceleration, we’ve got Undead WarchiefUndead Warchief to make our Zombies cheaper, and Three Tree CityThree Tree City for extra Zombie mana. And last, we’re throwing in an Urborg, Tomb of YawgmothUrborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Cuz why not? Oh, it also works nicely with Zombie MasterZombie Master who gives all our Zombies swampwalk.

Here are the cards we’re cutting from our fancy Zombie deck:
