Hang onto your notes! The next Secret Lair Superdrop, titled "Back to School," launches on April 27th. Filled with a term's worth of relatively school-themed drops (eight, to be precise), this Superdrop coincides near the release of Secrets of Strixhaven. Does this Superdrop get passing marks for value or aesthetics? We will let you be the judge, but read on for your due research diligence!

The first Secret Lair drop in this Superdrop is one of two themed after My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. You may recall that Wizards of the Coast put out a small, commemorative set of silver-bordered MLP cards a few years ago. Well, ponies are back!

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic contains the following six cards:

Secret Lair x My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is going to sell at a price point of $29.99 in nonfoil and $39.99 in traditional foil.

The Lands of Equestria

The Lands of Equestria is the second of the two My Little Pony Secret Lair drops in this Superdrop. It contains two of each basic land (sans Snow-Covered basics or Wastes, naturally). Each basic land shows the idyllic land of Equestria, the realm from whence the Friendship is Magic ponies hail.

In nonfoil, this drop will go for a price of $29.99, while traditional foil drops will be $39.99.

Omens of Chaos

Omens of Chaos is the next drop in the Back to School Superdrop. I haven't read Seanan McGuire's Straxhaven: Omens of Chaos, but I have heard good things about it! Anyhow, if memory serves, the five cards in this drop feature the protagonists of that novel in the art and flavor text.

This drop contains the following five cards:

Omens of Chaos will launch with a price point of $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 in traditional foil.

Dwarf Fortress: Create New World

Okay, this one I definitely have no serious idea about. According to Wikipedia:

Originally displayed using ASCII graphics, the game is set in a detailed, procedurally generated fantasy world with randomized creatures, NPCs, and history. Players can control a colony of dwarves in a fortress or explore the world as a player character. Its mechanics have been lauded for their depth and complexity.

Create New World contains the following five cards:

This drop will sell at a price point of $29.99 in nonfoil and $39.99 in traditional foil.

The Eyes Have It

The next Secret Lair drop is called The Eyes Have It. This drop is full of eyes, in contrast to a Visine commercial, wherein the eyes are full of drops. Hey, my jokes can't all be bangers; cut me some slack for trying, okay?

This drop contains the following five cards:

The drop will sell at a price of $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 in traditional foil.

Illustrated in a slice-of-life manga style, this drop feels very Strixhaven. There's not a lot I can say on this one either, but it's out there, as a Secret Lair drop ought to be.

The drop contains the following five cards:

If you wish to buy this drop, it'll cost you $29.99 in nonfoil or $39.99 in foil.

Ever blank out in the middle of a lecture and just start... doodling? Yeah, this is the kind of vibe this Secret Lair gives off. Super duper dreamy, like the kind of dream where you get attacked by a mob of ScutesScutes. Oh! Umm... What were we talking about, again...?

Oh, yeah, the drop. Notebook Genius contains the following four cards:

This drop will also sell at a price of $29.99 in nonfoil and $39.99 for traditional foil.

Return to the Mystical Archive

Return to the Mystical Archive appears to be Wizards of the Coast's attempt at seeing whether the Japanese Mystical Archive, but with English text, would appeal to players. It's a noble endeavor, to say the least!

This final drop in the Back to School Secret Lair Superdrop contains the following five cards:

And, as with all of these drops, this one sells at a price point of $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 for traditional foil.

Conclusion

None of these drops especially appeal to me, in all honesty, but I'm sure several players would appreciate getting a copy of Terror of the PeaksTerror of the Peaks for a somewhat-reasonable price alongside four other ASCII-art cards. That's one example, anyway.

With that said, let's open the floor to you, dear readers! Do any of these Secret Lair drops appeal to you? If so, you'll be able to get them as of April 27th on the Secret Lair webstore. Did you expect that any of these drops would be available this time around? Alternatively, what Secret Lair drop would you design (aesthetically speaking) if you had the opportunity?
