Everyone knows the best creature ever to grace Magic: The Gathering is Colossal DreadmawColossal Dreadmaw. It's a fearsome trampling threat that eats everything in its path. So let's honor this majestic and fearsome creature by building an entire deck dedicated to it. And the leader of this deck is none other than O-Kagachi, Vengeful KamiO-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami.

O-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami
Colossal Dreadmaw

I picked O-Kagachi for several reasons. First, it too is a six-mana 6/6. Second, it's all five colors, giving access to the widest range of six-mana 6/6s.

And before you ask, yes, every creature in this deck is going to be a six-mana 6/6. And I'm only going to use cards with mana value one, two, three, or six.

What Does O-Kagachi, Vengeful KamiO-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami Do?

In this list, it's purpose is to give us access to all five colors. It's also a great deterrent from people smacking you in the face. A flying trample dragon is still no joke, even if you aren't casting all that often. The threat of a big dragon is scary enough.

Now, a deck full of six drop creatures might seem inefficient. Especially given how lean many commander decks are nowadays. But all those cheap creatures can't block haymaker after haymaker. So we're going to ramp as fast as possible, slam our threats, and turn them sideways.

Key Cards for Colossal DreadmawColossal Dreadmaw Tribute Band

Demonlord Belzenlok
Gyruda, Doom of Depths
Grave Titan

First are the card advantage creatures. These are creatures that have the potential to provide additional resources, usually cards in hand. Creatures like Combustible GearhulkCombustible Gearhulk, Demonlord BelzenlokDemonlord Belzenlok, and Amareth, the LustrousAmareth, the Lustrous are great at keeping your hand full through the game.

But card advantage isn't just cards in your hand. It's also what cards you have in play. Which is where Gyruda, Doom of DepthsGyruda, Doom of Depths, Grave TitanGrave Titan, and Miirym, Sentinel WyrmMiirym, Sentinel Wyrm come in. Gyruda can cheat any of our creatures into play. Grave Titan provides cheap tokens to chump with. And Miirym doubles the number of Dragons in the deck.

Alpha Deathclaw
Koh, the Face Stealer
Rakdos, the Showstopper

I also wanted to include creatures that had removal tacked on. There are plenty of efficient removal spells, like Swords to PlowsharesSwords to Plowshares. But sometimes you won't have the mana to play a creature and remove a threat, so you need to do both. My favorites also happen to be new additions: Alpha DeathclawAlpha Deathclaw, Rottenmouth ViperRottenmouth Viper, and Koh, the Face StealerKoh, the Face Stealer.

We even get a board wipe with Rakdos, the ShowstopperRakdos, the Showstopper.

Wild Pair
Kodama of the East Tree

But the best card in the entire deck, aside from Colossal Dreadmaw, is Wild PairWild Pair. This enchantment is a bit weird; whenever a creature enters, if you cast it, you can search for a creature with the same combined power and toughness and put it into play. This takes the deck from a jokey battlecruiser deck into a powerhouse that needs to be dealt with.

My first target is almost always Kodama of the East TreeKodama of the East Tree. With this and Wild Pair, you can cheat two additional creatures into play since both your original creature and the creature from Wild Pair will trigger Kodama.

How Does the Dreadmaw Win?

It might not surprise you, but winning involves turning big threats sideways. Okay, there is a bit more to it than that. Moraug, Fury of AkoumMoraug, Fury of Akoum turns late game ramp spells into extra combat steps. Which works great with powerful attack triggers from Rottenmouth ViperRottenmouth Viper and Inferno TitanInferno Titan.

There is also a burn sub-theme with Ziatora, the IncineratorZiatora, the Incinerator and Warstorm SurgeWarstorm Surge. These let you chip in for six damage on your end step or whenever a creature enters. You don't worry about sacrificing creatures. You can just bring them back with Kroxa and KunorosKroxa and Kunoros, Muldrotha, the GravetideMuldrotha, the Gravetide, and Teneb, the HarvesterTeneb, the Harvester.

Conclusion

I know this deck looks like an expensive meme, but it's surprisingly powerful. You can easily swap the mana base for something more budget-friendly, loading up on all the budget lands we have available. I just happen to own expensive lands, so I put them in.

If you're looking for something that will turn heads and is great to give to a new player, I can't recommend this deck enough.
