Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander Precons Revealed

On Tuesday, January 6th, Wizards of the Coast revealed the full deck lists for the Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander precons! These two decks, named Dance of the Elements and Blight Curse, feature an Elemental theme and a -1/-1 counter theme, respectively.

But what cards are actually in these lists? Read on, and we'll show you what you'll be working with as early as January 16th!

Lorwyn Eclipsed - Dance of the Elements

The first deck we'll discuss is Dance of the Elements. This deck showcases Lorwyn's Elementals, both of the Flamekin and "Notion" variety (the latter coined after Horde of NotionsHorde of Notions, one of the reprinted creatures in the precon).

The deck's themes also focus on Elementals with evoke, a very powerful mechanic exclusively printed on Elemental creatures. The face commander of the deck, Ashling, the LimitlessAshling, the Limitless, allows non-evoking Elementals to get in on this mechanic. In turn, this opened up space for Wizards to print Elementals that work well out of the graveyard, such as those with the encore mechanic from Commander Legends.

Additionally, this Lorwyn Eclipsed precon continues the two land cycles started in the Edge of Eternities Commander decks. The new "tango land" Sodden VerdureSodden Verdure and the new "bicycle land" Rain-Slicked CopseRain-Slicked Copse are the blue-green lands in this cycle, leaving only black-white and red-blue iterations left to see print.

Dance of the Elements' Reprints

This deck also contains a ton of great reprints. For two prime examples of fantastic reprinted cards, look no further than two of the evoke Elementals of Modern Horizons 2: FuryFury and EnduranceEndurance. These two are a bit less powerful than their white, blue, and black counterparts, but they'll absolutely see play with Ashling and the backup commander, Mass of MysteriesMass of Mysteries, as well as the aforementioned Horde of Notions.

Lorwyn Eclipsed - Blight Curse

The second of the two Lorwyn Eclipsed precons is Blight Curse, a Jund () deck focusing on the spread of -1/-1 counters. At first glance, this deck seems to be the more consistent of the two, even if both obviously have their perks. This precon wants its pilot to put -1/-1 counters on anything and everything it can. As a reward for doing so, the deck's pilot will accrue great gains of value.

To this end, Auntie Ool, CursewretchAuntie Ool, Cursewretch, the face commander of Blight Curse, is a fantastic creature to lead this deck, though The Reaper, King No MoreThe Reaper, King No More is also a superb commander for more controlling builds.

Blight Curse Reprints

One major reason this deck is so powerful right out of the box has to do with the suite of reprints provided in the precon. Many players who financially speculated on cards like NecroskitterNecroskitter, Massacre Girl, Known KillerMassacre Girl, Known Killer, and even Flourishing DefensesFlourishing Defenses will be a bit disappointed to know that these cards all saw a reprint within Blight Curse. However, anyone who missed the speculative purchases of these cards will probably be just as delighted.

Additionally, this deck's designers remembered a great many -1/-1 cards from the Amonkhet block. Hapatra, Vizier of PoisonsHapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Archfiend of IfnirArchfiend of Ifnir, and even The Scorpion GodThe Scorpion God are all present and accounted for.
