Festival in a Box Atlanta Announced for 2025

On Monday, August 11th, Magic: The Gathering announced the contents of the Festival in a Box for MagicCon Atlanta for 2025. For the most part, the structure remains the same, but new promotional cards have been included. What are the promos, and what's the new Secret Lair? Read on!

The Contents of Festival in a Box Atlanta 2025

The structure of this new boxed product is similar to what was offered for MagicCon Chicago and MagicCon Las Vegas this year. The contents include a box of Mystery Booster 2, a new Secret Lair product, and four new promos. One of the promos is a playtest card. But beyond that, the similarities largely end. For more information on the contents of Mystery Booster 2, you can refer to this article. For everything else, we have more information below!

New Secret Lair Alert!

Festival in a Box Atlanta 2025 contains a new Secret Lair drop, called MagicCon: The Gathering. This witty drop is a valuable one, as it contains at least one high-cost card (judging from secondary market values, anyway). The cards depict creatures attending a MagicCon event. It may not be Atlanta, and it may not even be 2025, but if one uses their imagination, that MagicCon event could be anywhere or at any time.

The cards in MagicCon: The Gathering are as follows:

Currently, Sliver Legion is a relatively expensive card for many players, with its lowest-cost printing being from another Secret Lair drop at just over $41. Therefore, this Secret Lair foots approximately one-fifth of the expected cost for Festival in a Box Atlanta 2025.

Festival Promos

In addition to the Secret Lair, this product also contains four promotional cards exclusive to it. Those cards also hold one with a relatively high value:

  • Lightning BoltLightning Bolt, with the Future Sight "Futureshifted" frame
  • Scourge of ValkasScourge of Valkas, with a Retro frame treatment
  • The Ur-DragonThe Ur-Dragon, with the Future Sight "Futureshifted" frame
  • Spaghetti Junction, a playtest card

Like Sliver Legion, The Ur-Dragon is a card that demands a very respectable price point. Currently, with its oversized card notwithstanding, The Ur-Dragon's most affordable printing sits around $41 as well. Interestingly, that printing is its first, which is probably because, as a foil from Commander 2017, it has a tendency to warp.

For more information on this product, you can head over to Wizards of the Coast's product page, found here.

Overall, Festival in a Box Atlanta 2025 looks to be pretty worth the value it provides, especially if the pulls from Mystery Booster 2 are worthwhile. So let's open the floor to you, dear readers. Have you purchased this product in the past and are you looking to do so this time? Sound off in the comments below!
