Deadpool Returns to Magic Through a New Secret Lair Drop

Deadly Dispute | Art by Ben Maier

Today is April 1st, a completely innocuous day with absolutely no implications of horseplay whatsoever. However, that being the case, at 12 Noon Eastern Time (9 AM Pacific), Wizards of the Coast released a much-awaited pair of Secret Lair drops. The company recently "leaked" an email detailing an interesting "internal" discussion regarding Deadpool, a character the Wizards employees merely alluded to over that time.

It turns out, to everyone's surprise, that Deadpool is the subject of this drop! But what's in the Secret Lair drop, and what makes it stand out? Read on, and we'll explain!

Secret Lair x Deadpool: I Fixed It (You're Welcome)

According to the press release officially released by Wizards of the Coast (with corrections added in brackets):

Wizards of the Coast, Magic: The Gathering, and Secret Lair are pleased and proud to announce the hiring of Deadpool as a creative consultant for its latest Secret Lair drop, releasing April 1, on a holiday known far and wide as April Pool’s Day - and literally nothing else.

"Every Magic card is great, but some Magic cards just need a little more joie de vivre, some jeux ne se quoi, and other French words that indicate aura farming," said [creative consultant] All-High Grand Arbiter of Corrections Department Deadpool. "I actually AM a tradingtrading, so I know what I'm talking about."

Mr. Pool has named this latest museum-worthy Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop Secret Lair x Deadpool: I Fixed It (You’re Welcome). It contains five “improved” Magic cards that he [drew all over] masterfully edited. This drop represents so much of his creative genius that we were told that it should be available in non-foil, traditional foil, and something that Deadpool calls “Pool Party”, which he said needed art that “partied harder” in order to “celebrate my special day”.

When asked, “What is Pool Party?”, Deadpool walked away, threw his hands in the air, and yelled “FIGURE IT OUT, I’LL KNOW IT WHEN I SEE IT!”

[Confused] fans can see all the information about Secret Lair x Marvel’s Deadpool: I Fixed It (You’re Welcome) below (written by Deadpool himself) and can visit MagicSecretLair.com now to get notified when the sale goes live on April 1.

The drop contains five cards, each represented exactly as the Merc With the Mouth prefers them to be. The cards are:

This drop costs $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 in traditional foil. There is also another version with slightly different art and a Confetti Foil treatment that goes for $59.99. Finally, you can get all three as a (wordily named) bundled trio for $124.99. For those curious, the full name of that bundle is the "FINAL_final_REALLYfinal_v7_USETHISONE(2)_Everything Bundle". What a name! What a mouthful!

Conclusion

This drop will launch on Wednesday, April 1st, at 9 AM Pacific, 12 Noon Eastern on the Secret Lair webstore.

In the meantime, let's hear from you, dear readers! First of all, who is your favorite Marvel superhero, and why is it Deadpool? And second, will you be attempting to pick up any of these drops? Sound off in the comments below!
