Are your hands cramping from endless, mind-numbing shuffling? Are you tired of watching the clock tick by while you search your library for just ONE MORE LAND? Well, put down that deck! There's a better way. Introducing Galadriel of LothlórienGaladriel of Lothlórien's SHUFFLE-FREE Landfall.
Finally, a budget-friendly lands deck that requires absolutely ZERO shuffling! Say GOODBYE to Rampant GrowthRampant Growth. So long, Nature's LoreNature's Lore. Forget those pricey fetch lands. We've thrown them all out!
How Does Galadriel Work?
“How do you ramp?” you ask. The secret is one of Magic's most powerful abilities: scrying. With the Lady of Lothlórien on the battlefield, every scry lets you put lands from the top of your library directly into play. You get to ramp your mana while digging for the perfect answer to any threat. It's land acceleration and card advantage all in one incredible, shuffle-free package. Stop wasting your game night shuffling and start PLAYING!
Disclaimer: Your opponents may still force you to shuffle your library through spells or abilities. In such cases, players must still follow all official rules of Magic: The Gathering.
Key Cards for Galadriel of Lothlórien
Scrying All the Time
As I said, we need to scry to ramp. And the easiest way to scry every turn is enchantments.
We can scry on our upkeep with Eyes EverywhereEyes Everywhere, Mystic RedactionMystic Redaction, and Netherese Puzzle-WardNetherese Puzzle-Ward. Eyes and Mystic only allow us to scry 1 on upkeep, while Puzzle-Ward can potentially let us look four deep and draw a card if we manage to roll a four. Just make sure to stack your deck correctly so you don't draw the land you wanted to cheat into play.
We also have Thassa, God of the SeaThassa, God of the Sea and Lifecrafter's BestiaryLifecrafter's Bestiary. Thassa can also make some of our big beaters unblockable. While Lifecrafter's is card draw when we have some extra green mana lying around.
But I don't want to just scry on upkeep. I want to scry as much as possible, so Retreat to CoralhelmRetreat to Coralhelm, Season of GrowthSeason of Growth, and Elrond, Lord of RivendellElrond, Lord of Rivendell felt like no-brainers here. Retreat can let us chain landfall triggers since we scry whenever a land enters. Season of Growth and Elrond work great with some of our landfall token generators.
The Landfall Stuff
A lands deck wouldn't be complete without Avenger of ZendikarAvenger of Zendikar, Scute SwarmScute Swarm, and Rampaging BalothsRampaging Baloths. These creatures create a metric ton of tokens, which will let us scry with Season of GrowthSeason of Growth.
Scute Swarm and Baloths combo with Kodama of the East TreeKodama of the East Tree and Simic Growth ChamberSimic Growth Chamber, Arid ArchwayArid Archway, or Guildless CommonsGuildless Commons. More on combos later.
Scrying Matters
Now speaking of segues, did you know there are a bunch of cards that care when you scry? I bet you couldn't see that coming.
Arwen UndómielArwen Undómiel, Elrond, Master of HealingElrond, Master of Healing, and Lost Isle CallingLost Isle Calling all give some sort of benefit from scrying. Arwen and Elrond grow our creatures and provide us with either scrying or potential card draw. Lost Isle can give us an extra turn and a bunch of cards if it has enough counters on it.
Kenessos, Priest of ThassaKenessos, Priest of Thassa and Matoya, Archon ElderMatoya, Archon Elder did make the final cut. Kenessos gives an additional scry and can cheat sea creatures into play, like Grappling KrakenGrappling Kraken. Technically, Grappling Kraken is the only sea creature we have. The recently released Matoya lets us draw after we scry.
Be careful with Season of Growth, Scute Swarm, and Matoya, Archon Elder, or you might quickly find yourself drawing your entire deck.
I've considered adding Evolution SageEvolution Sage to proliferate the counters we generate. And RiftsweeperRiftsweeper to return Lost Isle to the deck and maybe do some weird infinite combo with it. But ended up not including either card in my final list.
The Lands
I don't usually cover lands in my articles since they're boring. But since it is a land deck, I figured it would be worth going over some of my choices. I added colorless scry lands, Crystal GrottoCrystal Grotto, The Grey HavensThe Grey Havens, and Zhalfirin VoidZhalfirin Void. These are great to return with our bouncelands. While RivendellRivendell, Castle VantressCastle Vantress, and Path of AncestryPath of Ancestry allow us to scry multiple times.
How Does Shuffle-Free Landfall Win?
Step One: The Combos
Now the moment you've been waiting for: the combos.
There are two infinite landfall combos in the deck. The first requires Kodama of the East TreeKodama of the East Tree and a token generator in play, along with a bounce land in hand.
You play the bounce land, which puts three triggers on the stack:
- The bounce land's
- Kodama's
- The token generator's - we'll say Scute Swarm in this example.
You'll want to put Kodama's trigger on the stack first, then Scute Swarm's, then the bounce land, since the stack resolves last in, first out. You'll return the bounce land to your hand. Then you'll make a token from the landfall, which then triggers Kodama again. Using this new Kodama trigger, you'll put the bounce land you just returned to your hand back into play. Which then puts all three previous triggers on the stack again. Now you repeat this process for infinite landfall triggers and infinite tokens.
This also works with Tireless TrackerTireless Tracker and Tireless ProvisionerTireless Provisioner.
The second combo requires Sakura-Tribe ScoutSakura-Tribe Scout and Retreat to CoralhelmRetreat to Coralhelm in play, with a bounce land in your hand.
You tap the Scout to put the bounce land into play. This puts two triggers on the stack.
- The bounce land's
- Retreat to Coralhelm's
You'll want to put the bounce land trigger on the stack first, then Retreat's trigger. This way you if your opponent tries to remove your Sakura-Tribe Scout, you can just play the bounce land like normal. You'll untap Sakura-Tribe Scout, then return the bounce land to your hand. Then you tap the Scout again to replay the bounce land. Repeat for infinite landfall triggers.
There are several versions of Sakura-Tribe Scout in the deck, but it's the cheapest at one mana.
Step Two: The Payoffs
There are also a few ways to augment these combos that will help you draw into your payoffs. If you have SpelunkingSpelunking, Lotus CobraLotus Cobra, or Tireless ProvisionerTireless Provisioner in play, you can generate infinite mana, while Tireless TrackerTireless Tracker can let you potentially draw you're entire deck.
But infinite tokens, landfall, or mana won't win you the game by themselves. Okay, tokens will, but you need to turn them sideways, and I don't have a haste enabler in the deck.
Ruin CrabRuin Crab will let you mill out your opponents. Territorial ScythecatTerritorial Scythecat will let you one-shot at least one person. A card I thought about adding is Glacier GodmawGlacier Godmaw since it's a landfall Craterhoof BehemothCraterhoof Behemoth, but the Lander token it makes requires you to shuffle. Of course, you can never crack it and still play this big boy.

I can't recommend this deck enough if you're tired of the normal Landfall decks or you don't want to shell out for fetches.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on shuffle-free Landfall. Do you think this restriction will make you try Landfall decks again? Are there any cards you think I missed that I should add?
Alrighty nerds, I'll see you in the next one.
